Places to eat Crab

Thanks very much for the really quick replies! My wife and I will be sure to try out both of these places.
Kindest regards from Sunny New Zealand

Yamabuki closed sigh so that great California Roll spot is gone.
For whole crabs and crab legs you would have to go off site liek Joe's Crab Shack.

Rainforest Cafe, Steakhouse 55, and Blue Bayou has crab cakes
Cafe Orleans has a crab salad.
Jazz kitchen has crab meat stuffed salmon and shrimp.
Catal has crab filled cherry tomatos
PCH Grille has Crab Louis

Wow - we may be short of crab here in NZ but we certainly won't be short having a great crab feast when we arrive in CA. Many thanks. Have a great weekend!

I am going to also suggest Bubba Gumps at the Garden Walk, or Joes Crab Shack right up the road. 2 totally different atmospheres and tastes, but both to die for.

Cafe Orleans used to have a crab salad sandwich on their menu, but they have since removed it.

Why can't we have Joe's Crab Shack and Bubba Gumps here? We are salivating at the thought of such wonderful food. If everyone says these places are so good, then they surely have to be outstanding. Thanks for letting us know about these places!
Bring on the crab!

Oh I know. I hear you... We live for these 2 restaraunts when we go to Disneyland. They are both not misses... Joes Crab Shack will be your best bet if you want straight crab though. Prices are very reasonable too.

Bubba Gumps relates more to shrimp (as its themed after the movie Forest Gump)... but still way too good.

But New Zealand has much to offer and I would love to have a nice house overlooking the fjords and the people are very nice there. I used to chat and had some New zealand friends:hug:.

There are other places in the southland to get crab but those are the closest probably.

As for the menu, they all seem to be out of date and I saw one site with the menu for a restaurant that closed in 2005.

If you have a car, go to Captain Jack's in Huntington Beach. DH and I went for my 40th b-day dinner when we were in Anaheim visiting DL. It is NOT a chain restaurant. Still pretty sure it is operated by the original owners. LOVED the King Crab Legs - all 2 pounds of them!!! :thumbsup2 It was a fun and quirky place that had really good food!

In fact, we liked it so much that since we will be at DLR for DH's 50th b-day in July, we are going here again. He gets the Prime Rib and I get the Crab Legs and we share (for days!). YUMMY!!

I highly recommend the Barbeque Dungeoness legs at Joes - no one makes anything like them. Next best is Garlic style in either Dungeoness or King. (King is more expensive). Those are my two favorites.

Sue & I are beginning to think we will have to stay longer to taste all these gorgeous dishes! Cheers for your help and have a great weekend! Mark

If we hire a car we will definitely try this one. Thanks for the help and have a good weekend. Enjoy your trip back there in July!

For Crab specifically, Joe's Crab Shack is yummy!!!!! For shrimp go to Bubba Gump but for crab go to Joe's. :)

Thanks! We will definitely enjoy our weekend. It is soooo fun to go as a couple. We have 2 small sons who can't ride everything, yet and that makes it a little harder when we go as a family, so we console ourselves with a grown-up only trip every now and then. That way we get our ride fix in and we can ride together instead of with a kidlet! ;)
