This pregnancy just keeps getting stranger and stranger. I went for an ultrasound the other day and the baby looked fine and he/she was growing as they expected but they told me that I had a cyst on my placenta. They said it was "more than likely not significant" but that they would want to check up on it again in a few more weeks.

Anyone have any experience with this? If it is really nothing why do they want to keep an eye on it?

I had the weirdest most stressful pregnancy this time. During my last ultrasound at 35 weeks, they found a cyst on the placenta, baby's scrotum or on the umbilical cord. They could not determine where it was. So I had to go for a high definition u/s. Anyhow, if it is on the placenta, it is no big deal. The placenta comes out and is taken away. Will not hurt you or the baby at all--or so I was told my my dr.--they will just watch it during the pregnancy. The cyst they found for me, was on the umbilical cord. No problems with the baby or me.

Good Luck!!

Thanks ckmommy! :)

Does anyone else have any more info?

Hello,

My co teacher had this same problem. It resolved itself in time and by the time she had a 2nd ultrasound it was gone. During my last pregnancy they found cysts on my son's brain. Of course I freaked out as this could be a sign of genetic diseases. By the time I had my second ultrasound they were much smaller and by the third they were gone. My doctor explained to me that the equipment is so much better now that they are able to see more than they were even 6 years ago when my oldest was born. Rowan is a happy healthy 16 month old now. It just goes to show you that each and every pregnancy is different. I know that all 4 of mine were very different from each other. I hope that this is helpful. I know my co teacher was freaking out too, but she has a healthy 2 year old and is expecting her second now.
