Placed hold w/ DCL website...

I tried to do this today and she told me she could not transfer so I booked a different room.

I don't think Costco can take over a hold. I'm pretty sure you would need to actually make the reservation with DCL (i.e., all the way through the deposit step) and then contact Costco within 30 days re: transferring the reservation. Obviously you can just start with Costco as well. If you have an OBB that you want to move and Costco holds the reservation, you have to go through Costco. I learned yesterday, though, that the Costco reps can modify the reservation online -- they don't need to call DCL and have them make the changes.

I tried to book through costco yesterday. Their system didn't show any adjoining rooms available and the call to disney had a 90min hold time. She advised me to book online directly through disney and started the paperwork for the transfer. I did have to go through and make a deposit, not the hold, as pp said, they cannot transfer holds.

I have WBPC held. I am now calling to have my previous OBB applied to that reservation, which the original Castmember advised me to do.

Once I have that done, can still transfer the booking to Costco, or did that "30 day window" apply to the original OBB?

Second question, what is the formula for how much you get on the Costco card?, Say, if my fare totals $4480 without taxes? If the OBB carries over, then my fare should be $4032 plus taxes.
Thanks!

Ours came to approximately 9% of what our Costco charge was, after the OBB was deducted.

Thank you, JAM, unfortunately I have since found out it needs to be transferred to Costco within the 30 days of it's ORIGINAL booking (in other words, within 30 days of when I booked it on the ship).

That's how to get the 10% off the fare PLUS the approx. 9% back from Costco. Lesson learned.

All bookings can only be transferred to a TA within the first 30 days of bookings. Also, note that the commission paid to the TA by DCL is lower when you transfer than with an initial booking, therefore your OBC offered by a TA will be indeed lower if you transfer than if you book directly.

My understanding is that (at least with DU) you basically get half the OBC if you transfer (again, within 30 days) than if you name the TA directly when you OBB, or if you book directly with them.

Some other agencies that have a fixed priced might not have this issue. I know it's not a problem with AAA since their offer is just a photo package. Not sure about Costco.

For OBB, you must name the TA at time of booking or you risk loosing some of the OBC, but you still must transfer it within 30 days.

For regular bookings, you basically need to book again with a TA to maximize the OBC. You could transfer it, but it would only make sense if the rates have already gone up. If you instead make a new reservation with a TA, you could work with DCL to release the particular stateroom to the new reservation.

Well, there's always next time, right? :-) We were able to give them Costco as our TA when we booked on board, and fortunately it stuck. I had heard stories from other posters where the TA they chose wasn't mentioned on their reservation when they went to make changes, but it all worked out for us.

Good Morning everyone! First cruise is set for March 2, 2015 on the Dream.

Within the past week we booked through DCL and paid our original deposit. However, we then started reading this board and realized that Costco has travel agents. We are wondering if there is any hold back to trasnferring it to Costco, and if we did, would we still qualify for the $300 OBC?

Likewise, would there be any advantage to transferring it to a TA vs Costco? Ive read that a TA will stay on top of booking and help you out more, whereas you are kind of on your own with Costco and must call them? Also, does Costco have the same resources as far as bookings?

Thanks in advance!
