Place for breakfast besides Kona Cafe?

We usually have a late breakfast at Kona Cafe on one of our non park days. But this trip we were thinking of trying something different! We aren't into characters (it's just my husband and I) and not buffets too much Either. Any other opinions on great sit down breakfast choices not in the parks? We have also tried the Grand Floridian Cafe, and Kouzzina when that was around, and they were both ok. So we keep returning to Kona. Thanks!

I know you said you're not into buffets, but you may want to consider Boma.

From the juice, to the mix of standard and more unusual offerings, it's the best buffet on property. We go every time. Plus, you get to check out Animal Kingdom Lodge, a destination unto itself.

It's outstanding, and we go out of our way to go there every time (except on our recent trip we stayed at Kidani so we didn't have to go far at all!)

Captain's Grille at Yacht Club has a pretty extensive a la carte menu for breakfast. They also offer a buffet as an option but we have never had it as the regular menu has lots of great choices. The lemon ricotta hotcakes are insanely good! It is a very quiet place with laid back nautical décor and you can usually get in for breakfast without an ADR.

Other than Boma and Kona, we've enjoyed breakfast at The Wave, Whispering Canyon Cafe and Olivia's.

The Wave, though they have a wonderful buffet, also serves menu as well. We love it!

Olivias is also another favorite. We like Boma and Trails End a lot but both are buffets

We ate at Olivia, boma, kona, grand Floridian cafe, trails end and cape may breakfast on our December trip. I can see why you keep returning to kona, it is amazing. I loved Cape may. I know you don't want characters or buffet but I wanted to tell you how good it was. There were alot of options with some that are healthy. But if you don't want to do that I would also recommend boma. It was amazing! The food was great and it was wonderful to roam around the resort and watch the animals.

Have you thought about the House of Blues brunch or the new brunch they just started at Fulton's?

Boma is our all out favourite and isn't particularly buffet. However, if you really want an a la carte I can definitely recommend Captains Grille. One of the great draws for us is that one person can have the buffet and another the a la carte. The restaurant is rarely more than half full at any time of the morning.

Even though we have yet to ear here (we LOVE Kona Cafe as well, lol), I've heard the Wave has an excellent breakfast. We also ate at Whispering Canyon for dinner and the food was really good for dinner, and I've heard its good for breakfast as well. It can get really really loud in there though (I don't know how the breakfast crew is though, maybe its quieter than dinner, lol) It was a little overwhelming for my son with ASD, luckily they had lincoln logs a little out of the way of the action so when he was done eating I let him go play over there for a bit so he wouldn't have a melt down, lol. I have also heard great things on Olivia's as well even though we haven't eaten there either, LOL. So many places yet that we haven't tried!

What are the chances of being able to walk up to any of these places for breakfast as a singleton? I'm thinking about touring the monorail/deluxe resorts next month when I have a free day down there, chances are will not have a park ticket. I've been to Kona Cafe so probably would skip that one, yummy as it is, and go somewhere I haven't been to before. I've eaten dinner at Captains Grille (another yum!) so maybe I'd try the Wave or Boma although a buffet is a lot of food for me. Or maybe Grand Floridian Cafe...But I want to see the animals. Anyway, if anyone has done this before without an ADR, please let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

Thanks so much for the replies! We had considered Boma, Olivia's, Captains Grill, and Whispering Canyon. We love seeing all of the resorts and we already have reservations at Jiko for dinner, so that's why we were thinking of something other than Boma. however if it's really that good, we may just try it out. We have never been to Old Key West resort before either though, and we also have no reservations at the Wilderness lodge this trip, so that's why Olivia's and Whispering Canyon came up!
