:confused3 for some reason I can't seem to to anything with this that I am totally happy with. Can some of you post yours? I'm getting laughed at for stressing over this. For some reason it's a big deal to me. And how many didn't have them, and was it ok? I am having a buffet, so wondering if just forgeting them would work.

I had a buffet and did have place cards. We also thought about not doing them...but then we thought about all the family that needed to be having their pictures taken just before the reception who might not get a good seat if we didn't put a place card for them....or who might be rushing to get a good seat. It also helped me to group people...like people from my work sat together and had a blast! My new inlaws and my family sat together to get to know each other...and a few people who we thought might "hit it off" together we sat near each other...like placing kids together, or out of town folks together...etc.

I think though that it probably would have turned out fine without the placecards, I just did them for peace of mind...plus people kept them at keepsakes. :cutie:

i think they are a helpful touch even with a buffet. People might be uncertain where to sit and might not be sure if they can sit at certain tables. it releaves some stress i think. I know if i went to a wedding i'd want to know where i was suppose to sit next to.

Our place cards matched our invitations...they were miniature invites!

I'm doing them just for fun. We decided to use the little character photo holders for favors and then just put place cards in them for fun.

We had a small reception - approximately 30 people - and didn't do place cards. As far as I know, nobody had a problem with it. Although, with our group, it was pretty obvious how everybody would sit. My family was at one table. DH's family was at another. My friend sat with DH's family because she knows DH's sister. And DH's friends sat together. I just made sure the tables were big enough to allow for this seating arrangement then let our friends and family do what came naturally.

Are you stressing about the design of the actual card or figuring something out that will hold the placecards? Here's a couple ideas I was thinking about trying for the placecard holders.

Idea #1 - I really like how the wire is shaped into mickey heads in this card holder and thinking it might be neat to make individual ones for placecard holders. It would be a lot of work and I am not sure what kind of base you would stick it in. I tried bending one piece of wire into a mickey head and it turned out pretty well, but that picture is at home.

Idea #2 - You can always find these photo holders in the dollar store. I thought it might be cool to cut the wire piece off and stick it into black fimo clay shaped like a pair of mickey ears. Something like the shape of this ornament. This one could be pretty simple at would also make for a nice keepsake for guests to use for photos afterwards.

I hope these ideas help. You could also combine both, but I thought that might be a little too much mickey.

I'll post the picture of the wire I bent into a mickey head when I get home from work. I thought it might be good to draw up a template on paper and bend the wires over top that so they all come out close to the same shape.

I actually purchased about 100 of those Lenox Mickey ears. We have a Lenox outlet by us and they were on sale for 4.99 less 70%. I think I got them for under $2.00 each. I also had a 10% coupon if you spent more then $100 so I got them for even less. By the last day of the sale they were down to 90% off. They almost paid me to take them. I started purchasing 50 and kept going back and getting more. I actually got about 70 Mickey and 30 Minnie.

I am planning on writing the persons name on the front (I also purchased a gold leaf pen). I am thinking of putting our names and wedding date on the back and then maybe the table number on the inside of the ears. Not sure yet. Or I might put the table number on the back and put a ribbon on the holder with our names and wedding date.

Oh how great! I wish. :rotfl: I bought a few after Christmas but they were still $10 each.

I really love these. They did not come in a box, so I will have to find something to give everyone so they do not get broken (maybe just a small bag or tissue paper). Also, they did not have the hang cord - which would not be a big deal - but there is a tiny hole where the hang cord should be. I have purchased very thin gold cording and am making my own hanging cord.

Although I did have an idea from seeing your picture. Maybe I could purchase those photo holder wire things and take the wire off and see if it would fit in the hole. Then I could make up a table card and stick it in the wire. Something else to think about.

I love the picture holder frame idea. They have character statues holding a clear piece of lucite that you would put a picture in. That would be great for placecards. Although I think they are expensive if you needed one for each person depending on how many people you are having.

I saw on this website where someone did their placecards on seashells (I believe wedding was at ADH). That is a real cute idea also - depending on themeing.

I think it would be really cute just to have them sitting on the table. You could have little boxes for them to take them home in.

My theme is Mickey. Colors are black and pink.

I am not sure what the mickey lenox ears are so I might be posting the same kind of Idea but could you try to do something like this with the mickey antenna balls just by cutting the bottoms off so they sit level and then writing on the names/dates etc.

ooh just though of something else dont write in gold buy the plain black ones and write in pink (a fabric pen or glue pen or something.
