I'm just wondering about the status of Pizza Rizzo.....has it ever opened again? I thought they said open seasonally?

As far as I’m aware it has not reopened at all, even during the busiest weeks (Xmas/ New Year’s/ currently during spring break).

I have seen mention of the seating area being open but I’m not sure if that’s a regular thing, and in any case they’re not serving food.

I don't think it's opened again since they closed it a while back. I could see them opening it when Star Wars land opens to handle some of those crowds.

We all know "seasonally" means its on the chopping block.
It has not opened that I'm aware of. I follow a youtuber that vlogs there often and walks by each time to see if its open.

This one boggles the mind for me. How long was it officially open after it was re-themed before it was condemned to "seasonally"? I think it was very brief, because we had about 15 months between visits and were hoping to try it, but never made it before it closed to seasonal operation. Makes you wonder why they re-themed it at all. I feel like Disney usually has more foresight than that.

That's what happens when you retheme the restaurant, but don't bother fixing the food that was terrible beforehand and somehow worse afterwards. Really HS needs to step up its QS game dramatically before SWGE opens or there are going to be A LOT of problems.

I was going to say, this was pretty much always spoken of as having the worst pizza on the property. As much as I dislike Star Wars, I hope that part of the park brings some much needed food options.

I thought I read somewhere last fall that it was supposed to re-open sometime in April. Seems like late April, for some reason.

But, as said above, when a restaurant goes to seasonal operation, it usually isn't a good thing for that restaurant's future. Wouldn't surprise me if it didn't re-open.

Funny ... I looked it up to make sure I knew which one it was, and saw this on disneyworld.disney.go.com :D :

I ate there during the brief window it was open and the food was terrible. I mean "beyond redemption" kind of terrible. To put this in perspective, I actually liked the original version.

I didn’t think the food was anything great - kind of digourno pizza style. However, we always sat in the reception room, and they played wedding dance music. My kids getting on the dance floor and letting loose is a great memory! It was a time to decompress from the crowds and have some unexpected fun.

That is going to be some prime real estate when SWGE opens. I wish they could get Patina Group to open a good pizzeria in the space, especially since Via Napoli has become a tough reservation to secure. Or, turn it into a more full-scale Italian deli, with sandwiches and salads instead of DFP (Disney Frozen Pizza). Did PizzeRizzo actually use frozen pizza or is that a rumor?

A deli (even a non-Italian deli) seems like it would be a good fit with the theming of Grand Avenue.

The pizza served here is the same thick/doughy frozen-then-heated pizza that's served at all other QS locations (see: resort food courts, Pizzafari, etc). Its no better or worse than the other locations that have it. Certainly not the world's greatest, and I'm sure the mass production of them leaving them to sit under heat lamps isn't doing it any favors either. Regardless of one's opinion on the taste factor, they definitely need more QS options for SWGE.

Yes! Everyone talks like it was the worst pizza on property but its the same pizza as Pizzafari. I think its ok, nothing standout. I think I liked the atmosphere more than anything.

Can you still go inside even though they aren't serving food anymore? I had seen somewhere that they open it for seating (but I'm not sure for what, even- the only other nearby counter service food is Baseline Tap House or maybe so you can take your Woody's Lunch Box meal and actually sit down with it?!) but I can't say I remember seeing it open even for that much last September.

Long, long walk from Woody's Lunch Box to PizzeRizzo, though.

Exactly! But, there are days when it’s “my kingdom for some AC and a place to sit down.” Woody’s is pretty much off our list so it wouldn’t help us in that respect any way I slice it.

We went in there in September 2017, didn't have Pizza everyone got a drink and just relaxed in a not so busy area. This was before the tap house opened. Frankly they should just tweak the menu and get it back open for GE. Do some regular pizza, and artisan styles. Really step it up. Maybe have some weird ones that are catered towards certain muppets. With soon to be influx of people they will probably need it.
