Pizza Delivery Credit Card Scam at Walt Disney World Resorts

I thought this was interesting. Another scam to be aware of.

The OP didn't give any details, but the story is apparently about flyers being pushed under doors at resorts advertising a pizza delivery service. The idea appears to be that guests will call the phone number on the flyer, and give their credit card number. And it's not just Disney resorts either.

Best way to counter this is to order pizza only from what you know to be a legitimate restaurant or delivery service. If there is no address for the restaurant on the flyer, don't call unless you can research first and make sure they actually exist.

Sorry, I thought the link would work. Anyway some people are slipping pizza flyers underneath doors at the resorts, using a prepaid cellphone. The flyers have no address. Once you order your pizza they have your charge card info. You can wait for them in the lobby, but you will not get your pizza.


If you want to order off site, ask at the front desk. They have a binder with menus from reputable off site food delivery places.

We received the under the door flyer for pizza while we were at BC last month. It appeared that nearly each and every door along our walk to the lobby had a flyer sticking out from under the door.

We commented on how odd it was that they were permitted to put those under the doors and advertise. Guess the nonexistent pizza place didn't really have permission. Our friends also received the flyer and they were staying at The Swan and on the 9th floor no less.

We were on the 11th floor of the Swan and every door had a pizza flyer. It's creepy.

We were at CSR last week and it was about 9pm we were heading out to dinner, opened the door and came face to face with a guy pushing a pizza delivery flyer under our door. He ran away like a mad man, yelling "sorry,guys!".
Last summer we were staying at a Homewood Suites hotel and every night when we came back there'd be a dozen flyers under our door from places with "fake" chain names like Romino's or Tony Rama's.
We NEVER order from any of those places!

Yeah, we got a few under our doors in the Boardwalk Villas last week.

Unfortunately, they wouldn't waste their time doing it if it didn't work.

Yup, this happens all over Orlando. A couple months ago they were bold enough to hand them out at the TTC! I have no idea how they got in...guess $14 to park is worth it to scam guests. Security ended up escorting them out...

This isn't anything new, its been going on for quite a few years now.

I am surprised guests are still gulliable enough to fall for such an obvious scam but I guess they are or the scammers wouldn't continue doing it.

I will never figure out why people let down their guard at WDW, especially at DTD. There is a lot of crime going on in the parks and at the hotels, both by insiders, guests and locals.

Again, its nothing new at all. Remember in Dirty Dancing when the old couple was arrested for pick pocketing all over the Catskills?

Disney does alert people by putting fliers in the rooms telling them to protect their CC numbers, not give out information over the phone by those saying they are calling from the front desk, etc. However, I am sure very few guests read them

I also got one of the flyers under the door at BWV in September. Even worse than the ripoff scam with the cc is the fact that up toward Daytona there was a woman attacked in her room by one of these flyer guys. Don't let your guard down just because you're at Disney!

I guess it would work the same as if you were ordering with a Cc. It just would never come.

I agree with the previous poster. They would likely accept the cash order, but would never deliver any pizza (likely there isn't any to be delivered). One of the sites that talked about the scam had a story from a person who actually did get a pizza (although they said it was obviously a frozen pizza)

Two years ago we stayed off site so we were fair game for the Pizza Flyers.

Every day two or three would pop up under our door. My sons' made a weird observation. All the the Pizza packages, large pizza, bread sticks and 6 pack of pop where all the same price or with in 5 cents. In fact all the menus looked like they were printed by the same company, kind of like Chinese menus. I was just thinking they were being competitive.

Well we ordered our pizza, don't remember but most likely paid cash, and we did get it, wasn't the best but beat WDW prices.

Flash forward to Feb of this year, I was planning a band trip to WDW and on the first night we have pizza for them. We picked an off site hotel and I asked the sales manager where we could get pizza delivered and brought up those fliers and should we pick one of them.

He told me they just had a hotel association meeting where they discussed these places and he said they were trying to crack down on the fliers. He didn't go into detail but now I understand.

We got Flippers for the band and I guess it was OK for "Florida style" pizza.

Thanks for the heads up on this. We ordered using flyers once in California. We did get the food, which was very cheap, but ended up tasting very cheap. They advertised brownies as part of the dinner. We were excited about that, but they ended up being Little Debbie Snacks. You know the ones you get at Wal Mart for 6 for a $1. So lesson learned... if it sounds to good to be true it probably is.
