Anyone had the pizza at Trails End lately? It was always a tradition to have it the first night we are there. Last trip, April 06, it was terrible. We complained, but don't know if anyone else did. So any opinions on it?

Its definetly NOT the best pizza I ever had but my kids like it okay. The crust is a preformed piece that they just add toppings to and cook. As easy as pizza crust is to make I cant believe that Disney sells it this way. Not sure why its done that way but I cant help but feel like they could do SOOOO much better, you would think with all those tranplanted New Yorkers and Chicagoan's down in Florida they could find plenty of people to make GOOD pizza !

I would have to go with terrible also. My kids will eay it, but they would rather have something else. I was told the reason is is not good now is that it is not made fresh there anymore. It is brought in frozen and then cooked.

The pizza at the Trails End has to be the WORST pizza known to mankind!! We've spoken to a few restaurant managers over the years, but to no avail. If people continue buying it, they'll keep making it. The trouble is, first time guests have no idea how bad it is until they've eaten it. Usually when you purchase a pizza, you're tired & hungry - - - so you put up with it - you're not likely to take it back and ask for your money back. Perhaps if more of us need to complain.

HOWDY!

I kind of like it. Maybe it's the fact that I'm eating it at FW or that I have eaten some disgustng things over the years. It really isn't as bad as others have said. One of the most digusting pizzas I ever ate was in NYC. So much for NY style pizza.

The most disgusting pizza I've ever had was in Vietnam! If I remember it was a cheese, pepperoni and rat. Go figure....... FW was a distant second, DS (des1954) ordered that one.

The pizza isn't that bad!!! After a long day at the park its nice to be able to pick one up, take in the atmosphere at the Trails End, Kick back at the campsite with the wife and kids!! Tell me where else can you eat a pizza to the sound of Fireworks and the music to the water pageant???

Sorry, but any food consumed while serving in the military does NOT count. I would think a ranger would be able to eat about anything without complaining.

I spent 21 years in the Army and Trust me!! The Pizza is good!! Try a week or two with nothing but MRE's That stands for "Meals refused by everyone". But they will keep you alive!! :crazy2: Never had a "rat pizza" :scared:

Sorry, I was just commenting on it not complaining. Pizza is definitely not the national dish of Vietnam. It was oblong, the sauce was kind of yellowish brown and the crust was soggy – almost like it wasn’t cooked. I think they used some kind of mashed vegetable for the crust. And the meat! That was the original mystery meat! None of us could figure out what it was! I think it was a mixture of monkey, rat and snake! We all made several guesses but probably none of us was even close. And the smell! That was truly a unique pizza! I wish I could have franchised it! It didn’t taste like anything I had eaten before or since!

I was in for 36 years. I'm not sure that MREs will keep you alive. Somtime I'll post my MRE heart attack story! (dehydrated beef patties)

I have 27 years in. I always thought C rats were far superior to MRE's, and you got a little pack of cigarettes to trade for more John Wayne cookies. MRE's have evolved into some pretty palatable meals. The original MRE's were terrible. I was in the jungle in Nicaraugua with some down home boys from Alabama who could doctor up an MRE pretty well.

Oh, wait a minute. This is going off topic. Too bad there isn't pizza in an MRE. Maybe Disney could be the supplier. Like how I salvaged that post?

Pizza in a MRE would be great. I won't be suprised if they don't put one in them before long. Put a little Ft. Wilderness Logo on the foil pack!! Only had a C ration one time, back in the 80's and I am sure it was from the 60's or 70's. Not to fresh. Well lets keep it on the pizza topic. Love it and will order carry out on the October trip!!

Por Favor Manten Ganse Alejados De Las Puertas!!

Kidatheart...Do you realize how many trips I had to take on the monorail to learn the spanish version!!!????

We now return you to our regularly scheduled broadcast....PIZZA! :woohoo:

Thats the only spanish I know. And I learned it in the Monorail also!! Well I also know a few choice ones but this topic is on PIZZA I think. Can't wait to hear the announcement again. Just have to ride it once to hear it!!!

The one time we had it we thought it was about the worst pizza we had ever had. But then again we don't think the food in general is very good at Trails end. We never eat there anymore.

We just left the fort. We ordered pizza 2 nights ago because it was pouring and we didn't want to go out of the fort. It was okay...

Last night we went to Trails End and I have to agree with an earlier post, I don't know that I will go for dinner again for a while. First of all, NO BISCUTS ANYMORE? Our waitress said no biscuts anymore however they were on one of the side dishes so I am not sure why they stopped offering them by themselves... If you don't like cornbread there is no bread and what is a country dinner w/o biscuts? I had forgotten how little there is for young kids. Besides the pizza and some mac and cheese I feel the kid choices are very limited. Most of the disney buffets have a special kids buffet and I wished TE did too. I felt the dessert buffet was very lame, krispie treats, brownies, apple cobbler, cookies. Even Chef Mickey's had key lime pite and cakes...

On the plus side the chicken was very good and the mashed potatoes were too. But For that much money I would rather go somewhere else or do the chicken meal takeout. Of course the Gazette mentioned it came with biscuts so I am not sure if that is still true or not.

I wonder how often they try new ways to make the pizza and when everyone who didn't like the pizza there ate it. I make pizza dough home made sometimes and the dough we had in December was not a pre-formed crust, it was like a New York style pie and was pretty good, it was made the same way at Trail's End and at the window over on the Boardwalk (can't remember the name of the restaurant).

A few years back, though, we went into Crockett's Tavern to end the night with some pizza. On the way in someone in another party asked me how the pizza was and I said we liked it and made sure to stop in at least once a trip. As luck would have it, this time the pizza was made with a pre-formed 'crust' and it was so bad! It figures the one time I actually recommend it to a live person, it was horrible. That pizza was not the same as what we had in December, if you were the person I made that rec to, sorry! I guess Disney should apologize, though!

Back on to the topic of MREs, have you all seen them lately? They are not your Grandpa's C, K, LMNOP Rations. They've got fajitas, lo mein, eye talian, etc etc, they have kosher and special diet MRE's, I'm sure it all still tastes like food in a bag, but it looks like they're trying to improve the variety. My neighbor told us of a time in Vietnam when those in charge of the mess took all of the outdated rations and mixed them all together to make a new and improved dish gar onteed to grow hair, well, everywhere. Mmm yummy.

We've had mixed issues with the pizza. Most of the time it's been fine, I can only remember one time where it was really "bad", it's pretty much just average.
