My kids got one of each of these handheld games for Christmas and I thought they'd be fine on the plane - and perfect for the 2-hour layover the kids will have each way next week. However, family members say that such electronic devices aren't allowed. Does anyone know, or can anyone direct me to a site with this information? They're flying US Air from Syracuse to Reagan Intl to Tampa, returning through Philly.

Electronic devices such as Walkmen, Pixter, Leapster, GameBoy, Laptops, etc are not allowed during the first 10-15 minutes or so during and after takeoff and landing. During the bulk of the flight, they are allowed.

DD loves her Leapster - one recommendation - do you have the Leapster case? I also find on the flight headphones are great so everyone else doesn't have to listen to the games

My girls use their gameboy so I can't imagine the leaptser or pixter wouldn't also be fine. You do have to wait until the flight reaches a certain elevation but other than that you should be fine.

If you want to be sure just check out the airline website or place a call.

I also agree about brining the headphones - some of my girls games have pretty annoying electronic "music"!

Great! I'll ask when we get to the ticket counter just in case, but it looks promising. Our in-car use rules include either wearing earphones or turning the volume off, so my kids are already "trained" in this respect! Well, guess I'd better go buy extra batteries before they leave tomorrow. My children and I thank you all! :)
