I am thinking of getting a Pixter for my youngest this Christmas - any insight on it would be appreciated! She is almost 5. Will she like it?
Anyone have it? what games are fun? will it break easy?
Thanks!

my kids got that last year when they were 3 and 6. They absolutely love it and don't really even use the cartridges. They play with this toy for hours at a time and it is really great to use during traveling. We are bringing tomorrow when we leave for Disney! I would suggest buying it at Toys r Us. If you don't have a store near you, I would buy it online. It is only $20 there as compared to $40 I found at Target. You can also buy the cartridges on ebay!

I saw it on-line - the stores have it for the $20 also? That is great! I will have to run and see if I can pick it up - I would rather buy it at the store than get it online.

Thanks!

my dd got this for her 3rd b-day & she LOVES it! We've never bought the cartridges to go w/it & she still just loves playing the generic stuff on the pixter.

There was just another post I replied to about pixter. I will try to give you the link:

If this doesn't work somehow search pixter and it will come up, it was just within the last week.

My kids had a pixter, the black and white one. We got a few games in clearance for it. My son who was about 4-5 at the time really enjoyed it, but they haven't taken it off the shelf since. It was hard to find any good games, esp since we had the b and w version.

My kids enjoyed it at that age. It got a LOT of play-time. One advantage it had for car trips was that it was lit. I'm not one for the expensive gameboys and stuff, so that was primo

My kids got the color one 2 or 3 years ago and they still play with them (they are currently 6 and 8).. WE have quite a few games and they like them all. They also each have a Leapster which they still play with and we have a lot of those games as well....This year we are upgrading to Game Boy Advances since they are getting older.

I will have to look at what games they have some are just creative and some are educational ...I "Think" they have among the following: CLifford, Barbie, Rescue Heroes, Faily Oddparents, Hot Wheels, Creative Genius, Dino Draw plus a few more...they play them all.

For leapster I think we have -Spongebob, Nemo (though we can't find it), Junie B Jones, Animal Genius, I Spy, Learn to Draw (or something like that),
Dora, Leapfrog Kindergarten, 1st grade, letter factory and few more again they play them all although they are starting to out grow some of them (for both systems.)

Both systems have held up well to lots of travel .

You can get tons of games for pixter off of ebay. And I just saw Pixter at Toys R Us yesterday for $20, which is alot cheaper than when we bought it a couple of years ago when my daughter turned 3. I thought about getting her a Leapster for Christmas this year, but she still loves her pixter, and she hasn't asked. The pixter is really fun!

My son got one for Christmas a couple of years ago. He really liked it. Unfortunately he dropped it while walking on the sidewalk and it hasn't worked right since. I'm not saying that they don't last and are flimsy but ours broke after dropping it.
