I am so excited to do this trip report and relive the wonderful week we had!
We took off on Friday the 14th. I had been planning and packing for weeks, but had to be stealth about it because this trip was a Christmas gift for our 3 daughters and they didn't have a clue! Of course, by now, they knew we were going camping...somewhere.
We planned to drive to MIL's house in NC. Saturday morning we got up at 3am, had the kids in the truck and were off by 3:45. Luckily my plan worked and they slept until 7:45. We had travelled 4 hours (nearly halfway to WDW) and they slept through the whole thing!!!! We stopped near Savannah for breakfast, all the while telling them that the further south we get, the warmer it will be! We don't know where we're going to end up!
About three hours away from WDW, I put in the Disney vacation planning DVD. DH told the girls to watch it and they will know where we are going. To see their faces as the realization hit them was priceless!!!!! They started bouncing and giggling and hugging each other! Oh it was great! I did get it on film~I've already watched it a dozen times!
Then we told them that we were nearly to Florida already~they could hardly believe it!
I may get some snickering from this, but the first night we were there I booked the CR with an MK view. It had been about 20 years since I'd stayed there and I wanted to see the new rooms. I also thought it would be nice to get there, relax, not have to worry about setting up the camper in the dark, and see the fireworks from the comfort of our room. We ordered room service and just enjoyed being there and talking about the rest of our trip.

The next morning we explored by monorail, had breakfast at Kona:
then headed to FtW! Our site wasn't quite ready (because I wanted 1500 and NOT 2000), so we visited the horses. Then spent the rest of the afternoon setting up. We were put in the 1500 loop~Cottontail Curl
! We LOVED being so close to the Meadow TP and pool and arcade. The kids took off on their bikes and played on the playground. Our oldest ran errands for us and felt so grown up!
That chilly evening we went to the campfire sing-along and watched The Santa Clause:

On Monday we went to MGM and then to MK for EMH. We rode Rockin Roller twice and ToT w/o much wait at all! We walked onto just about everything during EMH! DH and DD6 pooped out around 11:00. DD8, DD11 and I closed the place down!!!!!

Tuesday we slept in so we would have the energy for MVMCP that night! It was crowded, but we loved the shows and parade and fireworks!
Wednesday we hit AK and Epcot. I really wanted to see the processional and the countries decorated at night for Christmas! It was wonderful!!!! Kirk Cameron did a great job narrating, plus it was fun to see an old teen crush in person!
Thursday am, as I sipped coffee in my PJs, Stacktester and his daughter rode up on their bikes. Despite it being 9:30am, I had several late nights and I am NOT a morning person. Concerned about my lack of appropriate clothing, lack of a shower and lack of brushed teeth, I was not a good hostess. I should have invited him for coffee. Luckily, I did get an opportunity to make a second impression, about an hour later, we bumped into each other at the outpost. He didn't recognize me clean and dressed!
We spent the rest of the day riding bikes all over the fort and to WL. We met up with some friends in the evening and we all went to the backyard BBQ. If you haven't tried it, it is a blast! We ate and danced and had a wonderful time. I was feeling a bit nostalgic for River Country, though.
Dancin' away:
Not dancin' (too cool)
Well, this has ended up being really long! I could go on more! I took over 300 pictures so this is only a sprinkling! All in all, the trip couldn't have gone better! DH was only a little grumpy
Wishing you all lots of love! Merry Holidays and happy trips to the Fort in the new year!!!!!!
