We have had to take our dog to the emergency vets this morning. Earlier this year he was seriously ill with what they thought was pancreatitis, he overcome this. Fast forward to now & he may have it back, he has been up all night crying in pain (he only does this when is ill) so we decided to not wait until tomorrow to get him to our vet.

He has had a blood test done & his enzymes are slightly high but nothing abnormal. The vets are going to put him on a drip for pain killers & then going to try & give him some food.

the vet has said that it could even be just a sore throat as he didn't like his head being tilted to have the blood taken, we have all had colds the past few weeks & he thought it would be good to lay in the wet grass last week:headache: . If it is just this he will be able to come home today, if it isn't then he has to stay in & then transferred to our vet tomorrow.

The good thing is that he isn't dehydrated unlike last time & that if it is a sore throat or pancreatitis they are treated the same way.

I'm hoping it is just a sore throat & that he can come home.

So if you can send Polo some pixe dust it will be appreciated:thumbsup2

The vet called this evening to say he has perked up but didn't eat. Although that doesn't surprise me as he is fussy & was the same before. She did ask if that was the case, although she did ask what he eats at home so he had a choice. The vet reckons that he just wants to be at home really, so isn't too worried that he hasn't eaten.

She wants to keep him in on the drip as the painkillers are helping him & we are to collect him in the morning to take to our own vet.

There isn't much more she can do as we need to get the results from his last blood test he had when he was ill before to see if the results are any different, therefore we will find out tomorrow morning, unless anything major happens over night.

Poor Polo i hope that she feels a little better this morning and that she can come home today :thumbsup2

Hugs for you both :grouphug:

We collected Polo this morning, he was a bit brighter but has slept nearly all day but that doesn't surprise me as he probably didn't sleep last night & he has the painkillers still in his system, he has eaten a little bit of chicken today but does not seem too keen to eat which is a bit of a worry but it could be because off all the drugs in his system.

He has to go for a check up tomorrow with our vet, so we shall see how he is
