My Westie Snowy is currently at the big area animal hospital. She has been having issues walking for about 2 and a half weeks now. One vet said it was arthritis in her hips, my regular vet thought it might be Legge, Calve, Perthe disease in which basically the head of the femur becomes necrotic. However, over the weekend, she could not walk and was dragging her back legs and was incontinent. My vet tried steroids for one day and then yesterday we had to take her to the animal hospital that has the neurologist. They suspect she has disc disease and will need surgery to relieve the pressure and clean out the disc material. She is having an MRI this morning and hopefully the surgery today. The good news is that she still has some feeling and reflexes in her back legs. The bad news of course is that she needs surgery. Please sprinkle some pixie dust her way that everything goes well and she is up and walking and doing her "business" again without being incontinent soon. We will probably have to postpone our Disney trip from this coming summer to the summer of 2007 because this hospital experience will be very, very expensive. But, she is only 8, and is worth it to us. Disney will be there. Thanks!
for you and
I hope all goes well, please update when you can. Hang in there Snowy! (and Snowy's mom
).
