Pixie dust on our DREAM vacation! Update 06/08 TR finished!!

How nice that you got a room at the Poly, AND got a castle view! The pictures of Wishes from your balcony are great!

Great shots of the turkeys the next morning too! :lmao:

Nice update, Karin! Love the pics of the Polynesian...no matter how hard I try to move away from the Poly...every time I see it, get that warm fuzzy feeling. Seeing you standing on the balcony and the pic of the 3rd floor Tokelau Lobby brough back nice memories. Our first stay as a family was in Tokelau - back then it was called Oahu -Tahiti & Rapa Nui did not exist yet, so all we could see from the other side was the lagoon. :) Very nice. We prefer Tokelau because it is one of 3 Longhouses with a lobby on each floor and those nice wide hallways - the older longhouses have dark, narrow hallways. We always say we want to try Figi because of the great views, but the rooms are smaller and I've not been able to bring myself to actually request Figi! :confused3:rotfl: Of course, always say want to try OKW, but wind up back at an MK resort most trips!:rotfl:

Thanks for a nice update...ahh...the Port must be soon. :goodvibes

Hope you and Tom are feeling much better today!

Your Photos are so wonderful... I really feel like I'm there!:goodvibes

Hope you and Tom are feeling better!
:wizard:

I love the pictures of the turkeys!! The Fort is our second home and I never get tired of seeing all of the wildlife. It cracks me up when I overhear guest commenting about the animatronic(sp?) deers!!!

Somebody should warn those turkeys that their legs are a snack credit !! :)

So very sad that check out had to happen, but I know you are on your way some where special.

The animals along the road in December were interesting too. LOTS of deer. We did not see any turkeys though. I know it is kinda odd of me... but they are just a bit beautiful.

I am usually very sad no matter which resort I have to check out of at WDW, as it is the end of one part of our vacation, but there was something VERY special ahead of us .... so there was no time for being sad.
There are always lots of deer along that road, but never seen any turkey! Only at WDW! :rotfl2:
I was really excited seeing the turkeys out on the road! :goodvibes

It was supposed to be a garden view room, so I was in awe that we could see the pool from our room until ...... Tom pointed out the castle! Then I got really excited!!!! :thumbsup2

:woohoo: for memories and I guess they are good ones! :goodvibes

I am so thankful for your recommendation of Tokelau - I would not have had any idea on what to request! :thumbsup2

We are both much better, thanks!

Your Photos are so wonderful... I really feel like I'm there!:goodvibes

Hope you and Tom are feeling better!
:wizard:

Thanks for your kind words!
We are both feeling much better and going back to work on Monday! :thumbsup2
Please let Jenna know that her little parcel will start its way across the pond on Monday! :goodvibes

I've stayed in that room!!! :goodvibes

You're kidding?????? It's a perfect location, isn't it? :thumbsup2

Great shots and I also feel like I'm with you guys as you're leaving :)

WOOHOO - time for some Downtown Disney :thumbsup2

Heather

I am so happy that I can give you a sense of how that vacation was for us!

Breakfast at Downtown Disney ...... anyone wants to guess WHERE we were having breakfast? :lmao:

Fort Wilderness is so nice! We have never stayed there, but visited friends from Canada who stay there quite often. It is such a peaceful setting and there are incredible decorations over the holidays! :thumbsup2
You know, we have seen so many deer in that area, but I have NEVER before seen one, who just stood and didn't even move an ear. I had Tom driving very slowly to see if it was real .... and it was! :rotfl2:

Somebody should warn those turkeys that their legs are a snack credit !! :)

:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

Wow, what large turkeys. We have wild turkeys here but they are not nearly so large. Here the turkeys are people shy so you would have a hard time snapping a photo of them unless you had the proper camera equipment.

so funny about the turkeys. I have seen some wild ones here and there, and it always seems so weird to seem them just running around

Just got back today from our 3 week vacation in Florida. I'm trying to get caught with the Dis only to find that you have started a new TR! So I'm on page 11, sorry to be so late!

I have to decide where we are going to eat as I have to make my ADRs tomorrow!:scared1:

Thankfully, I wasn't too far behind. I wish we got at least a bag of pretzels on our flights these days. ;)

LOVE LOVE LOVE the Poly. I'm so glad you got a chance to stay there (although you missed the POR Royal room.

Hi Karin, I just read your whole report so far and it is great! You really have a lot of cruises under your belt - lucky lady... I loved seeing the bits from the flight, it is interesting to see airlines from different countries, and 10 hours is a long flight :O I haven't stayed at the Poly in years, but it really is a fantastic resort and congrats on getting such a great room. You got some great shots of the fireworks! I look forward to reading more about your trip!

I have never seen wild turkeys! So we were both amazed to see them there. And it was really fun to watch how traffic stopped to let them cross the street. :goodvibes
They really seemed to be used to people and the traffic in the road. :thumbsup2

I think I know where you had breakfast WPE!!

You WIN!!!!!!!! :dance3:

They were a first time for us .... it was awesome seeing them next to the street and then crossing it! They seemed to feel right at home at FW! :thumbsup2

Wow! Those three weeks went fast! Welcome back .... and welcome home to my new Trip report!

Ah, the question of where to eat! I just went through that myself and have already started to change them around again! :lmao:

Only the major airlines still cater. If you fly on a low budget one, you will need to provide for yourself.
Staying at the Poly was nice, even though it wasn't a wow experience. But we loved BLT! :thumbsup2

Welcome!
:thumbsup2 for reading through the whole report!
We just love cruising! I would not have thought that we would be doing cruises 8 and 9 in 2012 when we went for our first one in 2009! :rotfl2:

10 hours in those seats is no fun, I can tell you and that is why we take some sleeping aid (can't fall asleep on a plane without it) and try to sleep for a few hours.
The Poly was a new resort for us and we were glad we tried it, but it is not one of the resorts we will hurry back to stay at. ;)
The castle view and the fireworks were a wonderful surprise and perfect start to our trip! :woohoo:

Day 2, February 19

"You are BACK!!!!" - Part 2

We found a parking spot right behind the “Once Upon a Toy” store and strolled over to Wolfgang Puck’s Express.
No need to read the menu, as we both knew what to order. So we went up to the register, placed our orders, picked up our drinks and found a table where we could wait for our breakfast. Tom didn’t want a hot drink, so he had ordered a Diet Coke. I wanted

some tea and since Wolfgang’s is quite nice, that is what I had.

IMG_3396.jpg

While we waited we talked a little about what the next few days would bring and it didn’t take long and our entrees arrived. Tom had ordered

IMG_3401.jpg

Wolfgang's Breakfast Pocket, Scrambled eggs, peppers, Niman Ranch Bacon, onions, mushrooms, mozzarella and cheddar cheese baked into Wolfgang's pizza dough, while I had my all time favourite,

IMG_3398.jpg

the Smoked Bacon Pizza - scrambled eggs, tomatoes, mozzarella and cheddar cheese and Ranch Dressing. Both were wonderful and we took our time to enjoy them.
When we were full we walked through the stores a bit and at a stand we picked up a pair of white Mickey gloves.
We walked through the Once Upon A Toy store and over to Ghirardelli. One cannot give up free chocolate, so we walked through the store, munching our sample, and actually found some new creations which we wanted to buy when we returned at the end of our cruise.
Around 10.30am we finally made our way back to the car. In no time we made our way over to Hotel Boulevard and onto the highway and hit a traffic jam. :scared1:
Time seemed to fly by as we crawled along the highway. Shortly before we turned off towards the airport, traffic became considerably lighter and once we had passed the airport it was all smooth sailing.
The further we got, the more our excitement grew.
After about an hour’s drive we caught the first glimpse of the DREAM

and both our hearts skipped a beat, seeing her sitting there, waiting for us. It didn’t take long and we got to the exit and soon we were driving up to the ship.

To be continued ..........
