Pixie Dust at SSR!

I just got back from a 4 night trip with my husband, our teenage stepdaughter, and her friend.
We decided to rent points in order to get a bit of extra space. The best deal I could get with renting points for my nights was at SSR. My husband and I both have a goal to stay at every resort at Disney (he’s way ahead of me, lol) and while neither of us had stayed at SSR, neither of us was very excited to stay there. But, given the fact that we were getting such a great rate, we went ahead and booked a studio at SSR for our trip.

Imagine our surprise when we walked in to the room, straight in to a foyer, then around the corner to see a full kitchen. I immediately said, “Ummm.. is not a studio ”. We had been upgraded to a newly-renovated 2 bedroom villa, 4th floor, with a balcony that over-looked Disney Springs (Congress Park section).
I have to say that my stay at SSR exceeded all of my expectations. We were a very short walk, over the bridge, to Disney Springs and also a short walk to either of the bigger pools and the Carriage House (main area). The grounds were beautiful and so were the buildings.
I wanted to post this for anyone debating whether or not to stay at SSR or who may feel like my husband and I did and not be too enthused about staying there. We definitely feel differently now and would stay there again, happily...even without being pixie-dusted, lol.

A similar thing happened to us, also at Saratoga (studio to a 2 bedroom villa) when we walked into our studio to find the carpeted floor soaking wet! It totally ruined us haha! What a treat it was to experience the space that a 2 bedroom provided...honestly, it's just two of us and we do fine in a studio - but I'll tell you what I'll be considering moving up to a 1 bedroom next time!

Years ago my ex and I had a room booked for POFQ. Turns out they had overbooked the resort, so they moved us to a Deluxe King Suite at SSR. I was a bit bummed bc the resort seemed kind of dull and I had my heart set on POFQ, but we were told the room was super nice. THey did not lie. It was amazing. But beyond that, the resort was super nice. It's certainly not the most "disney" resort out there, but it's very quiet, relaxing and spread out. That might not be your thing, but we enjoyed it. And the water access to DS is nice. While it wouldn't be my top choice, I'd definitely stay there again.

That's awesome! A very similar situation happened with us July 4th weekend. Booked a standard studio at SSR, walked into a 1 bedroom preferred villa. Very grateful! And now "villa spoiled"

We're DVC Members and our home resort is Saratoga Springs. Don't let the secret out! We like that it flies under the radar of most people! Shhhh!

My hubby likes that there's a golf course right next to the main building. He can literally walk over and ask for a tee time. We've been on our balcony watching them go by as he's golfing!

And if you ever wanted to buy into DVC, SSR points are typically so much cheaper than other resorts! Big plus if you're buying in or adding points.

My hubby loves to golf too. I’ve been trying to sell him on buying in to DVC, so maybe I can use that to help my argument

...beautiful! But...it must have been hard to sleep with the beds all stuck to the ceiling like that! And the toilet on the wall !! Interior decorating gone crazy! Seriously, looks great . Glad you had a good experience!

When you see if you’re on an iPhone that you can go to your photo in the Apple Photos and click edit and then rotate the photo 4 times (from Normal back to normal) and then when you upload it to Disboards it will be right. It’s a weird issue with the interaction between the photo app and the code that powers the Disboards photo uploads.

I am really surprised that Guest made it through Security and all the way to Small World without being stopped-maybe Disney is being really "laid back" during the Pandemic as long as the Guest is properly wearing their mask!lol

Yes! My husband sent the pic to his family group thread and said, “interesting bag choice for Disney”, lol. I guess they really aren’t paying attention at bag check...unless you have an aerosol can or umbrella
