We just returned from a week long Disney trip, which included one night at Buena Vista Suites, the 3 night Disney Wonder and 2 nights at the Nick Hotel.
We did a week vacation last Aug. at WL and were on the free dining plan. During that trip, we never made it to Beaches & Cream, but wanted to. SO, it was first on our agenda for this trip and boy we were NOT disappointed in that choice!
We arrived in Orlando about noon and got checked into our hotel and drove to the Boardwalk to spend the evening walking around. We parked at the Beach Club as we knew we wanted to eat at Beaches & Cream before the Boardwalk.
We arrived around 3:30pm and hadn't eaten since about 6am, so we were ready for food. The restaurant was a little less than half full at this time (a Wed. afternoon in mid-Jan.). We were going to be seated at a table until dd9 said "can we sit at the bar" (meaning the soda shop part). This turned out to be a very good idea!
Because we sat there, we were facing all the cm's working behind the counter. They heard us talking about hidden mickey's and challenged my dd9 to find the ones in the restaurant. This began a really fun game with the cm's there. We found the ones in the restaurant easily enough. Well, then they challenged her to find the hidden mickey on the Yacht & Beach Club mugs. One server told her if she found it within 5 minutes, she could keep the mug. This was a challenge dd9 and sister dd13 were thrilled about!
They looked and looked, but couldn't find it. The cm who was cooking at the grill kept giving the girls clues when the other servers would leave. She was so sweet, trying to help the girls find it! She finally gave them enough clues and dd9 found it and screamed "I got it." Well, all the cm's came over and made such a big deal out of her being so smart and finding it (it was REALLY hard to find!). DH and I looked for quite awhile too and we couldn't find it, so dd9 was really proud of herself when she was the one who found it.
Of course, even though it took like a half hour for her to find it, they did give her the mug anyway. Then later the same cm cooking felt bad for dd13 since she didn't get a mug, so she asked what color she liked and slipped her one too
We had so much fun interacting with all the cm's there. One gave us great advice about watching for dolphins swimming along with the boat on our upcoming cruise. In fact, because of her advice, we saw a team of 4 dolphins that swam along the boat to take us out to open sea. We showed them to all the other people watching for them and it was truly a magical moment and one of the highlights of our trip.
Another cm told us she had been back to work only 3 days since having her first baby, so we gushed over pictures of her newborn and she told us all about him. Yet another kept refilling our drinks with cherry and vanilla cokes and even filled the girls new free cups with their favorites before we left.
The cm's there were nothing short of Disney's best. The food was yummy here too, but it was the cm's who created the pixie dust and really made our late lunch here so magical!
Also, a group of 3 girls by us ordered the Kitchen Sink, which was fun to watch. They only ate half of it.
We had delicious burgers and fries and then shared a No Way Jose and Fudge Mud Slide, which were YUMMY! I love peanut butter, but actually thought the Fudge Mud Slide was better.
Overall, it was probably one of the best meals we've ever had at Disney!
