Both of my DD's got them for Christmas a couple of years ago. My DD(then 8) lost interest within a few weeks. But my DD (the 5) loved it. She really enjoyed connecting them and letting them play together. But after 2 years the only people that play with it are me and DS4.
my girls play with theirs on and off. They can go months without touching it then turn around and play with it for days. With anything you have to ask yourself what your child likes. Do they enjoy handheld games? Are they good at figuring out how to play things. With all toys kids lose interest it the nature of the beast.
We are playing on getting them the Roomies one.
My daughters (now 12 and 9) begged for them a few years ago. They played with them a ton at first and then lost interest. Of course the younger one is now asking for the big one but I dont' think I will be getting it for anyone.
My DD(7) was really into these last year. She doesn't play with them daily anymore, but will still pick them up and play with them sporadically, especially on car rides. She did just ask for the new big one that is out this holiday season. I found it at BJ's for $43 compared to the $49 at TRU, so I did get it for her.
