Parked in Pixar Pals for the first time today. It took FOREVER. What in the world is wrong with the way they fill this lot??? In multiple places they have two lanes of traffic merging into one, so inefficient and stressful since people don’t want to let others merge in... omg. Is this how this structure always is?? If so I’m going to avoid from now on.

1. I continue to be a Toy Story lot loyalist, and stories like this validate my choice.

2. We were supposed to be there today! But my kiddo is sick. 😭 Wish we could have seen you! Have fun!

I ALWAYS park in Mickey and Friends. ALWAYS. Lesson learned!

Oh man, I’m so sorry your daughter is sick! It would have been so fun to meet up! Next time!

It’s been six weeks since we’ve been in the parks and I’m sooooooo excited to be back! The new walkway to DTD is great!

Pixar pals is a hot mess since it opened!!! I used to love the structure now it’s a disaster. I’m going Monday (Columbus day) and I think I will just park in Toy Story. I’m just praying Harbor security is reasonable.

Probably a good plan!

The new walkway to DTD is great!

This past August, we stayed at a hotel on Ball Road, so we usually took the tram to and from the parks. The walkway wasn't open yet, so that wasn't an option for us.

Q1: To access the walkway from the street, I assume people would have to go up one of the escalators at the south end of the parking structure?

Q2: From what I could see of the walkway, it appears to be a very pleasant walk, as well as shorter than the "old" route of walking west to Downtown Drive, then heading south (the walkway may not be significantly shorter, but it is shorter nevertheless, plus no wait at the traffic light). Does it appear that a significant number of people who use the parkade are taking the walkway, rather than lining up for the tram?

I wonder if part of Disneyland's plan is to save money by encouraging people to take the walkway, which would allow Disney to reduce the number of trams.

It looks like you can take the escalator. We took the elevator. The walkway is on the second floor. It definitely felt shorter and faster although I didn’t time it. Seemed like the usual number of people walking (I almost always walk).

I arrived at the PP lot around 7:10 this morning and had no trouble at all. When I arrived at the park gates, however, there were twice as many people as I expected. Same at rope drop. For some reason, the park is crowded today. I never had any issues with PP. I suspect your trouble stems from crowd levels.

It’s really crowded! When I pulled into the Pixar Pals structure there were no more than 15 cars in all the lines yet it took forever to move into the structure because of all the merging and levels closed off.

From your hotel on Ball, do you walk up Disneyland Drive? If so, cross the street at Magic Way and there is a street level path that leads to the same area of DTD as the pedestrian bridge/walkway.

I've read elsewhere that Disney wants to encourage more people to walk to/from the parks because they have no way to increase the number of trams they run. Due to the amount of space required between trams, they can't add any more to the rotation.

... For some reason, the park is crowded today...
It's AZ fall break -- this brings significant crowds every year. Next weekend will bring the fall break crowds from UT. October is just a very busy month at DLR!
I think PP needs more/any (?) CMs directing traffic at peak times. We've never seen anyone in there helping with the lane merging problem.

Did you enter the actual PP structure from the entrance on Magic way, across from DTD? I have done that multiple times and have never encountered even more than 2 cars ahead of me, and absolutely no merging issues. It has literally taken me under 3 minutes to park from the time I pulled into the structure. Every time. I have done this multiple times since the structure opened. On only one occasion were they having cars drive over from M&F, but there was a separate lane for them and they were being fed into a different parking lane.

Yes I did! When I pulled in I thought it would be really quick based on how many cars where there but nope!

I have parked in Pixar Pals a couple times, but it was always a re-route from M&F. And it has always been easy and quick. I tend to get there very early, but definitely no real merge issues or other issues. I like where it puts us coming to security and the tram.

That's what I was told later in the day. A friend said that it was both Utah and AZ's fall breaks.

The merging issue as described by OP is annoying. It's So! Obvious! that the zipper method of merging is the most polite way for two lanes to become one. Luckily, people were not merging jerks when we used the lot on our trip. There were other issues, but nothing I need to get into here. It also wasn't bad enough to scare me away from that lot in the future.
