PIs for June 2008 - Jan 2009

Ok I think I'm starting to lose hope, it is now past two weeks. I just wish I would hear something either way! If I don't get the PI its grad school for me!:confused3

Don't lose hope just yet, I heard they usually make their calls on Fridays. :) You can also try and call Casting to see if they have finished making offers for your particular PI if you really want to know!

Ugh, I hope I don't have to wait till friday! I sure hope thats not true! I just want a call early next week! Its been 3 months since I first applied. I'm going crazy not knowing what is going on! :worried: :crazy2:

same here, hopefully we find out by the end of next week :)

anybody get offered an MI in rooms and related? that's what i applied for..

I have accepted an offer for rooms and related. I will be working at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort in the front office.

It has been a very crazy week for me, as i accepted an offer for Magic Kingdom Guest Relations on Sunday. Casting then called me on Thursday and informed me that i had recieved an additional offer for Rooms and Related, which i accepted.

I know Caribbean beach all to well. Say hi to Stacy and Lisa for me. One will be your general manager, and one will be your front desk manager.

What all qualifications did you have on your resume to get accepted?

Lets just say I have plenty of experience with the company. Does it really matter what my qualifications are?

i think she is trying to get a hint and see how if she would qualify as well.. i have a background with disney, having done the CP and also was a campus rep for the company.. i also have 2 years experience in a front office/front desk capacity. i also have a hotel mgmt bachelor's degree.. hopefully all of this would allow me an opportunity to do a management internship..

Matty, im sure you would ultimately take the MI over the PI, as it's obviously a better experience and also more money... if i end up getting an MI, I'll let ya know.. maybe we can hook up and get an apt together or something..

congrats on getting the position.. now it's my time to get it.. disney, pleasseee..:)

This is precisely why I was asking. I am trying to figure out Disneys selection process.

I am a human resource major with management experience and from my small sample group thus far, I am seeing issues with their recruiting and selection processes. I am sure they cover themselves well, so Im trying to figure out what my research is missing.

1st - The PI job posting has required and desired qualifications. Over the past year I have personally met with some PIs at various resorts that dont meet the required qualities.

2nd - I have met quite a few people from my college and from this surrounding area that meet all the required and desired qualifications, and have never even been contacted for an interview.

I am trying to figure out for what reason did they not even get selected for interviewing.

I could certainly understand if some didnt make it past the interview process, as some dont interview well...or present themselves well..., but to not even get selected for an interview when meeting all required and desired qualities...while others dont meet the prescribed requirements and get the job??:rolleyes1

Matty,

Congratulations on your offer:cheer2:
I also got offered MI in Rooms & Related a while ago. But I do not know which department or resort I will be working at. I suppose they will call me eventually (soon hopefully!)

Good luck to you! :thumbsup2

Who did you call at casting? I tried calling today and they said it was inappropriate for them to tell me anything at this time and that all PI's would be notified either way by May 16. They didn't ask for my name or anything so I'm guessing that is a standard answer for everyone?? I'm thinking about calling the managers I interviewed with if I don't hear something by Wednesday.:sad2:

Hey guys!! I'm considering trying for a PI in Jan. 09. I've been debating if I should do a CP or a PI in January. To those going through it..or have gone through it..what do you think? Should I do the CP first? The job doesn't require me to have done the CP and I'd be qualified for the job then...so should I go for it? My problem is...I graduate in December 08. So..this is my last shot to do the CP (I just heard about it...or I would have done it sooner). As I understand it...you can do the CP after you grad but you have to be in school to apply. Same with the PI/full time jobs. You can do the CP up to a semester after you grad and the PI will accept you up to 6 months after you grad. So I have a small time frame. What should I do? Is there a way I could do both?

I actually didn't have to call anyone, but I knew someone who was applying for the same PI that I did and I asked one of my interviewers whether she knew if they had completed the hiring process or not. She actually replied to me saying that it's okay to call casting and ask if they have finishing hiring for your particular PI. That's odd that casting told you that, since the person I told to call casting actually got a response...

I guess you'll have to wait? :( Which PI did you apply for?

Ticketing and Education Coordinator for the College Program. I called one of the managers and left a message today. Hopefully I will find out something. Maybe I will call casting again and get a different person!

I saw someone else saying they got a response from casting. Maybe you should try again just in case another person will actually give you some details. :) Good luck and keep us updated!!

I have just accepted the Ticketing Specialist Internship. I was really hoping for the Management Rooms & Related Internship, but I think this one will be good too. I think I can learn a lot and I get to spend 6 months at Disney World! I start on June 26... 66 days and counting!

What are you planning on doing with the CP or PI program? If what you want is to come down and take a break for 6 months and have a good time, then the CP is for you. However , if you want to come down, get a position that isnt a minimum wage job, one that has potential for growth, and one that will be a good resume builder, then the PI is the way to go.

The CP is for people wanting a break from school or to have a good time. Nothing good career wise comes from it, the PI is a different story.

I was in your exact same situation, the only difference is I'll have my masters, so I was really hoping to go for a PI over the CP. However, I talked with two Disney recruiters and did some research on my own, and have since decided that the CP would be better for me.

Two main reasons: CP guarantees housing, and I need housing. I do did not want to go through the hassle of trying to arrange for an apartment or have to worry about taking down any furniture (I'm from Iowa).

There is a greater variety of networking opportunities for CPs; they have several guest speakers from all over the company that come in and talk with CPs. You get networking in a PI of course, but it is more focused on the area of your job. There are about 4 things I am interested in pursuing professionally at Disney, the CP allows be to do some more exploration before settling on one area.

This doesn't pertain to you, but three of the four areas I'm interested in all REQUIRE CP participation, so I decided it would be better to cover my bases for the long run.

Hope that helps! You can always apply for both then make your decision based on if you're offered a PI.

You will have your masters....and still do a CP??

If you are dead set on a career at Disney, for Gods Sakes do not do a CP. With those kind of credentials you can just apply through casting and have a shot at whatever job you would want here.

Please do no let recruiters fool you into coming here and using the CP to "network". As a CP, you are just 1 in a crowd of 30,000 or so minimum wage employees that work here. Use your degree and come down here on a full time basis in a job you want.

I have worked here for 2 years. You read these boards and you read alot of responses from people who "hear" about how things go on here, or those that have vacationed here and think they know what they are talking about. Having worked here for 2 years, I can tell you that a very, very, very , very slight few people are able to do anything more from a CP, than to go to a full time role along the same pay scales.

I have worked at 8 resorts spanning 2 years and have met hundreds on CPs and a couple of dozen or so PIs in my time here. Not 1 CP that I have known has been able to network themselves through the CP program to doing anything significant within the company. The PIs are a different story. You come down here in some sort of professional role, and network there....and they advance.

Housing is alot easier to get down here as well. You can get much nicer housing for the same money you spend on Disney housing...in the exact same area. I know...I live across the street.

Not trying to discourage working at Disney, just highly discourage the way you are going about it. The CP will not help you at all. Talk to casting and with your degree, move into an area where you can network with people that matter.

Well I called casting again but still no luck. This was my third person and still the same answers. "You will be notified by May 16 yada yada.." This person actually checked my name and social and couldn't find anything! WHAAATT??? :rotfl2:I would love to know who is getting a response from casting! Anyone?? lol
