I'm thinking about making ressies for DS 6 for the pirate criuse the week before presidents week. Is 6 too young for this activity alone? DD is 3 and to young to participate. How much does it cost ? Is it too late to make ressies and what time does it take place?

DD7 and DS9 did this in Dec. and really enjoyed it. If a children doesn't have a partner the CMs will pair them up with another child. I believe it costs around $30.00. Be at the GF marina 15 minutes early. You will be given a pager in case you are needed.

What are the ages for this? It sounds like a lot of fun.

I probably shouldn't answer your question after seeing your team logo; afterall I am from Philly and...well... you know the rest. But, I'll put my sports feelings aside and for the sake that were fellow members on DIS, here goes my answer.

My three kids did this last October and had a blast !!!!

Children ages 4-10 will be outfitted with a pirate bandanna and will board their pirate ship (pontoon boat) at the Grand Floridian that is equipped with telescopes and a map to aid them in their quest to find the hidden treasure.

They will sail to exotic ports-of-call masquerading as other resort marinas, and find and follow clues that take them throughout the Seven Seas Lagoon. Lunch is served to give these little adventurers the sustenance they need to complete their mission. At the last port-of-call, the adventurers split up to hunt for the treasure. When the children return to the boat, they discover that the treasure has been found! A treasure chest full of goodies like jeweled rings, pirate "gold", Mardi Gras beads, noisemakers and rubber snakes awaits them.

This adventure is being offered Mondays and Thursdays (may have to confirm days again). You can book 90 days in advance by calling 407-WDW-DINE (407-939-3463) -- just make sure you ask for the "Pirate Cruise at the Grand Floridian". Have fun !

To answer the other part of your question....your DS is not to young. MY DS did the pirate cruise last January just before his 5th birthday. He was by himself, but the CM's pair all of the kids up so everyone has a partner. On DS's cruise the kids all seemed to be 4-6 years old. DS had a great time and I'm sure he would want to go again on this trip (but it's a surprise trip for his birthday and I haven't told him about it yet :teeth:

kashkdz-Thanks for answering even though we are pulling for the opposite teams:D . I guess we have aged out, my DD is 11 and I know that my DS-9 will not go without her. Oh well, we sometimes miss out on things. It sounds like a great adventure for the kids and a little down time from the parks.

TammyNC --

I would maybe reconsider having your 11 y/o do the Pirate Cruise (along with your 9/yo). When our three kids (DS 9,DD 6, DS 4) did it last time they 'all' enjoyed themselves. My older son helped out his younger brother, and my daugher quickly found another girl to buddy-up with. I also saw a couple of kids that looked like they were a little older than my older son. I think your decision should depend on whether or not you think your kids would enjoy a Pirate Cruise away from mom/dad (1 1/2 hrs) on the lagoon looking for buried treasure. To me I defintely think they would enjoy it, and I don't think that they are very strict with the age limit.

Thanks for the information, I am going to check into this since they aren't too strict on the age. My DD really doesn't look like an 11 yo, we get ask all the time if they are twins. I really think this is something that they would enjoy along with giving Mom & Dad a little time.

I'm going to talk to them about it and with DH and then start looking into it.

Thanks again!

This sounds like a lot of fun. How long does the cruise last?

We are heading to Disney in October. Can't wait.

Pinkie- I don't remember the exact length, I think around 90 minutes?? It was long enough for us to go and grab something to eat while DS was on the cruise.

I just tried to reserve on 2 different dates in March and they are already booked. Has anybody ever had luck with cancellations becoming available for this?
