Sorry if this has already been posted....but has anyone been on Pirates of the Caribbean since the remodel? Or has anyone heard what it's now like? I really hope they didn't change the original songs/characters...my girlfriend never saw it before...and I want her to experience the original, classic ride I remember.d

I saw a video of it on youtube or whatever that site is (there was a link to it on these boards). Anyway, the video was at Disneyland and it was Johnny Depp riding it. All I can say is that it looked like the same ride, same song etc but with the addition of Johnny Depp's character Captain Jack added to it. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Most of the ride is still the same. The only changes are small (Jack Sparrow AA, the boat during the fight scene, and a part with Davy Jones).

The majority of the ride is the same. I rode it 3 times last week with less than 10 minute waits! :cool1:

There are a few changes but it is mostly still the same, 3 Jack Sparrow's added to 3 scenes, some dialogue changed to fit Jack Sparrow in, Cap'n Barbossa is now on the ship looking for Jack Sparrow and Davy Jones makes a coool appearance.

All in all, my DH loved it and he had never been on the original.

Rode it last week the 2nd day it was open...what a nightmare. When I left for my trip, the reopening of the ride showed 7/1 on the WDW website. We arrived 9 days before that and I had no computer access. After touring MGM, I overheard a CM telling guests that the ride was opening on 7/7 (the day we were leaving...ugh). Everyone we asked, even at MK said it was opening on 7/7. Well we went to MK again on 7/2 and just happened to walk by and saw it was open   and the wait was 20 minutes...doable in my opinion. So we jumped on, but as soon as we boarded the ride broke down. It took about 15 minutes to get restarted. All the while I saw the panicked looks of the people behind the glass above the boats (their numbers kept growing too). Well, at least we were sitting in the boat and not standing in line :cool1:

So we were off, but there was no sound as we approached the mist/fog of Davey Jones' image. He was there, talking, but no sound was present. Then the ride stopped again. We stopped right below the mist/fog. We had DJ image right above us (I have a great photo of my family at this point). We were in this position for about 10 minutes. The sound did eventually come back about 1/2 way through our stay.

When we finally started up again, we again stopped at the jail scene. A few more minutes there, then we stopped right before the final scene. The boat in front of us had a great view. We were there again for about 10 minutes. When the boat finally started moving, I was trying to take a photo but the boat suddenly gained a motor and sped to the end. I missed my photo and for the most part the end... :confused3

I forgot how poor the MK Pirates ride is compared to DL's version. I'll have to go to DL soon to see the real version. At least I can say I rode the longest ride @ WDW and all I got out of it was a free FP for another ride.
