Here now. Had not seen this refurb. Was it sudden? Anyone know why? At least it's only 2 days.

OMG - I'll be there Thursday - will it be open by then... that's 3 days.

There have been rumors about a returb, but nothing has been official. It may just be down due. It needs a lot of work to get back to running properly. Sorry it's effecting your vacation. We will be there in August and it was rumored to be down for 6-8 months (August being one of those months). Will be sorry to miss it, but it REALLY needs work.

Was there a sign or did a CM say it was down for refurbishment? Hopefully it will be up for you later. Based on the most recent report, don't sit in the front row if you want to stay dry.

The Disney website has it down today and tomorrow. Hoping it opens wednesday

Good luck. In December it was supposed to be down for one day, but ended up being down for half our trip. We only rode it once in a week-long trip, which is crazy (we used to ride it multiple times per day). And the one ride we did get was pretty unfulfilling because half of the effects weren't working anyway. POTC is long overdue for a refurb.

My daughter was a CM at MK in the fall. One of her classmates extended into spring and is working at POTC. I guess POTC is desperately in need of a total rehab for several reasons. I wish they'd just shut it down and do it instead of a day here and a day there.

When we were there the 13th-20th we talked to a couple who were stuck on it for almost an hour one day during the week, they actually had to take the people off the boats some back way, as they couldn't return back to where they normally load from.... I went on it and it was fine...but it did keep closing during the week for intermittent times.

I'll be in MK this weekend, but I had already long since decided to skip POTC. The 'soaked' stories were enough for me.

That said, in the time since I've been to MK (a loong time), the POTC movie phenomenon came and went. At the height of its popularity, I expected the whole ride to get rehabbed and re-themed accordingly. I guess that didn't happen?

I don't know why they don't just shut it down now, and try and have it repaired for the summer season, which is a busy season. It's been up and down constantly the last few weeks.

On a side note, how long is the Ariel ride supposed to be down for?

I rode it last Thursday, and it seemed fine, except for the fact that all the boats jammed up at the end, but then I saw a CM taking something out of one of the empty boats at the exit point with a pair of long tongs so I think he was holding up the exit. Not sure what he was pulling out of the boat that he couldn't touch with his hands...

Same here--I rode it last Tuesday and Thursday and didn't see any noticeable issues. Also saw a CM taking stuff out of the boats with tongs. I assume it was just trash and using the tongs was the quickest and most sanitary way to remove it.

Well there was a post the other day about the lines at the changing tables and one woman commented on how she just changes her baby on a ride with a bench...

Simple really... Something broke! Mechanical things break on occasion. It happens!

I have heard that one of the boats has a leak that is growing slowly... :sad1: so sorry it is effecting your trip!!:scared::sad:

That wouldn't stop the ride. They would just take that boat out of rotation. Most of the "leak" rumors have actually been about the fact that the splash factor has greatly increased since the new boats were put in. No, if it is shut down for 2 or three days, some major piece of equipment has bought the farm.

It was pretty much down a good part of Sunday (right before Presidents' Day) I was there. The CMs told everyone that it was down and didn't know when it would be back up again for the day.
