I've been "lurking" on this site for a couple weeks now. My Disney trip will be even better than I could've imagined thanks to all of your tips/advice.

We will be leaving for Disney from "frigid" Michigan in about 4 hours! Yeah! :rotfl:

Wondering if anyone knows if the rides at MK run during the Pirates and Princesses party. We are thinking about purchasing tickets......

Any info would be GREATLY appreciated....

I highly reccomend the party. We had a great time this past Monday! :cool1: Almost every ride is open and there is alot of fun stuff going on. We had such a great time!

Oh! Thanks for the input....I found a couple of threads now on this site and it seems the overwhelming concensus is that it's AWESOME....

We'll have 3 pirates and 1 princess (ages 12, 11, 8, and 5). Can't wait to see Cpt. Jack Sparrow, myself!!! :lovestruc

Hope we can still get tickets....I've read that perhaps they limit the number they sell....We'll see...

I better get finished packing!

You should have no problem getting tickets. Make sure you dress up! It's alot of fun! Oh- and BTW- Captain Jack looks very good in person!:rolleyes1

The party is so cool! We went on 2/1 and after the party, seriously considered buying tickets for the 2/5 party as well since we weren't leaving till 2/7. The fireworks were awesome, the parade was wonderful, the characters seemed to be really in to it that night and it wasn't crowded at all so we got to ride everything we wanted to.

Seriously, you won't regret buying the tickets. Plus you can get in early so if you aren't using a regular park ticket that day, you can still get 7+ hours in with the party ticket.

We did the 2/1 party as well and had a fantastic time. We rode most of the rides open in the MK that night and our longest wait was 6 minutes to ride Peter Pan. :) The fireworks are phenomenal, the best we've seen at Disney. The parade was really cute too.

Definitely worth doing!

I don't remember how I came across these Pirates and Princesses party things, but I saw they are coming back for limited nights in August, and having checked the dates, there are three opportunities for us to go. I really want to go, even if mum and sister aren't too keen at the moment!

However, we have a slight issue - all three of us are over 21years of age, and there will be no children with us - it will just be the three of us. So, what we wanted to know was would we look strange going to one of these parties dressed-up and without any children, or is the whole event designed for everyone, regardless of having children with you or not. Having said that, the three of us together at Disney make up some of the biggest kids around! :lmao:

So, any opinions, esp from those who have already been, would be gratefully received. Plus, do we need to buy tickets in advance, or would it be alright for us to book them as soon as we arrive at Disney in August?

You will not get strange looks. Disney is for everyone! Besides if you have a cool costume most people will admire it! Go and have a great time. It isn't just for kids. Many "bigger" kids were on line to see Captain Jack and I can assure you that I would have been on that line whether or not my kids were with me!:rolleyes1

Great! Thanks for that Mouse House Mama, that was just the kind of response I was looking for! :D *goes away to convince mum and sister it IS a good idea to go!*

:sad1: :sad1: I am so sad! I dont think they will have them for our trip in July!

We went on the last night March 8th. It was great. We had such a great time. I would suggest for anyone to go. There were adults there dressed up too. Anyone can dress up, if I could afford it (and convinced dh to) I would have dressed up but dressing the kids cost us. We rode so many rides that night and did the treasure hunt. The firework show was sooooooo good.

Does anyone have any pics of their kids all dressed up for the party.. I would love to get some ideas.. We are going on August 21st.

Twilligt Terror,

I would buy your tickets before you leave.. They go on sale on June 1st. Between the 40% off code that was out and the possible free dinning in August Things could get packed.. You never know.

Where do you buy the tickets? Disney's web site?

When I bought my tickets for March I called disney and ordered, then I got a code and went to customer relations and got the tickets for them. It was cheaper to by the tickets before hand than at the gate.

Okay, I have a question. I know technically Tinkerbell is not a 'princess', but since she appears on the float, do you think I could get away with dressing up as Tinkerbell. My mum and sis, if in costume, wanna be pirates, and I was hoping for some kind of Peter Pan theme amongst the three of us i.e. Tinkerbell, Captain Hook and Smee! :rotfl: What does anyone think to that? Can Tinkerbell count for this occasion???

I don't see why Tink wouldn't count as a princess! I'd go for it. We're going to be there in August and are definitely going to get tickets. When I told my kids we're going DS (13 and a smart a___) said he's going as a PRINCESS!:rotfl2: I can't wait to see this! Mom's definitely going to have her camera out for this one.

Tickets don't go on sale until June 1st. But I know I've gotten other event tickets (MNSSHP) on the web. We're planning on going August 11th for DD's 8th Birthday. We already booked BBB for all the girls in the party. I may be more excited than my DD to go and dress up. I just don't know if I'll wear my usual pirate costume or get a princess one to match the girls.

Anyone going in August not sure about dressing up? I'm just a little concerned that we will get too hot in costumes at this time of the year.

I was thinking raggy black shorts and raggy white t-shirt for pirate costumes with a bandana, sword and eyepatch. That's not much different than just wearing shorts and a t-shirt. For the "Princesses" I was't planning on elaborate costumes. I thought maybe a dressy sundress, with a crown and some jewelry.
