I am just taking a break from Pirates to share my stories on playing Pirates. (Yes, I play too much!)
Recently, I stopped saying GG (Good Game) at the end of games unless I lose because I did not want to hurt other players feelings. However, this really bothered me because Couches tell you to say it after real games regardless if you win or lose to the other team players. The other day I started saying it again and I get the negative comments, like GG for you.
I completely understand it can be tough at times when people play against me and they do not win, but to be honest many of the games I play are boring. I know some of the players are trying their hardest to win. Sorry, if I hurt anyones feelings for saying what is on my mind about the games I play in this post.
When playing with other players I sometimes want to give those other players help, but scared they will get mad and think I was making fun of them for getting shot. This is not the case and I want them to become better to take me out and give me a challenge. If I get hit with a good shot I will tell them it was a good shot and if it was my bad I will make comments like, I am not saying a word. (Yes, I said that the other day when a good friend keep getting stuck in the silly rocks, but it was funny though and yes even funnier that I was already dead.)
Pirates can be a fun game, you can have fun playing, and I actually love when I get hit with a good shot as I learn from these mistakes and I learn how they play in order to win. Yesterday, I was in a game where the last player was stuck and my team tried to help move them to get free. It did not work and we finally had to shot the player. To be honest it was a bad game. However, can I say, Bad Game without players being upset or offended even though we won? I know back to the Coach and we have to say, Good Game regardless of the outcome of the match. It is tough!
The last thing I want to win is against a ship does not have a chance to fight as it is boring to be honest. Sorry if any of this post is offensive.
If a friend game comes to a point where I know it is unfair if I engage and the other players are a good match I will let them go at it. This is also the case if one of the other team members gets disconnected or left behind in the lobby and the game becomes like 3 2. My friends will take turns sitting out the rounds to make it fair and come in after a player is destroyed and the other team members have a few seconds to restock. I know not completely fair, but it is the best we can do and still be part of the team.
In reference to comments about Lag or Freeze:
My computer lags allot during Pirate games. It even lags in 2 - 2 games believe it or not. Sometimes I can deal with it and sometimes I cannot and get shot like everyone else. However, I try not to say, Lag unless our team wins to help the other team understand that we all have a little lag now and then. But what was cool in a way the other day was when my entire screen froze for about 4-5 seconds and when it moved again I had taken out 3 ships. I think I did a bad and made a comment, OMG. I assume the other team took that the wrong way so I was trying to type what just happened, but never got around to finishing it before the game ended.
We all play pirates for different reasons:
- Some do ai games to get keys and boot the other players
- Some play for credits and boot good players or the last one to join
- Some play to have fun and go along for the fun
However, the last group has two sets of players the ones that have fun only if they win and the other group that wants a good match. Now do not get me wrong; I have issues with temper but not driven by the desire to win. I direct my temper at players that do not play for fun and just enjoy the game.
This weekend I played my worst game ever and maybe it was just bad timing for me. The language and level of comments used during the game got to me and I actually engaged in the same type of insults I dislike. It was a game I never want to play again, in fact my entire team, 3 other players, exited the game. That is how bad it got and it was just me at the end ready to hit the exit button myself. Not all the players were bad and in fact, one of the players understood how bad the game was and was even willing to let me win because of his other teammates. However, I got shot was taken down to see Davy Jones.
I so much wanted to hit exit throughout that entire game but I got too involved and I told myself if I exited, they win. However, I knew if I exited, the other team would actually lose and not get the extra 100 for winning the game.
Must players on pirates know that I am good at the game and yes, I always carry a full lanyard of Coral Magic, to show off a little? Nevertheless, I was not the first to reach that goal and want to give a sound out to a friend for reaching the goal first.
If you play a game with me or my friends and want tips or help, please ask I will be more then happy to tell you what you might have done differently to stay alive.
In closing, my personal tip to the readers of this post is to avoid the middle waters if you are on the pirates side at the beginning of round 2 in the level 3 game. You will get shot with cannons as they fire though the left side rocks on the port royal team. But somebody found a trick and got me the other day and I now know how to fire back to the bottom area so make sure you move when they game starts.
Well this post is getting long and I will leave with my last comment
If you are on a quest, please tell me at the beginning of the game. However, do not expect me to let you win. I will play a little easy to help you win, but if you are on a level 3 game with me then I might have to ask why you elected to play a level 3 if you were on a quest.
