It will be myself and my 16 year old grandson, which of these 2 would you chose and why? thank you

We're doing both but I think if I had to pick it would be Pirates. Dessert is standing only even if you score a table. Pirates will be a lot more entertaining with smee, capt hook and a "surprise guest" gee I wonder who that's going to be?

We chose the pirate cruise (kids 12, 13, 15 and 17) because we are going this month and I don't think any of us will enjoy so many sweets after a hot day or so late at night.

Not even close--- and we usually do both--- ( we just did this last week) --- but will not be doing the "new" dessert party

Pirate and Pals by a mile !!!

Another vote for Pirates and Pals - My DD 10 at the time said she would most like to do P&P again. She loved the trivia and the entertainment.

Pirates and Pals -- Definitely! Although I still have to get my "fix" by seeing Wishes from inside the park, right in front of the castle!

Well, considering he's 16 he might prefer unlimited desserts over characters. It really depends on him. I would like to try the cruise sometime. We just did the dessert party and had a great time, but that is partly because we had such a fantastic table. We all agreed that it was the best Wishes experience we've ever had.

I also have done both. Me and DS 12 will be back next month. When planning he said we have to do the pirate cruise again and had 0 interest in attending the dessert party again. I agreed with him completely. We'll be on the pirate cruise August 25th.

We just did the new Wishes dessert party and likely won't do it again. One because it costs so much, two because you need to stand for fireworks, three because the desserts just weren't that good, nothing like I remember from the last time we attended.

We loved the dessert party and did it many times, until the price increase. Since the price is now pretty comparable, we decided to try P&P for Christmas night this year.

This is great to hear! We are booked for our first night in August on a Saturday. So, you really do have an assigned table, correct?

Yes. Tables are assigned in the order they were reserved. There will be a little place card on your table when you arrive.

Remember, there is a ton of treats and desserts before the cruise.

We've done both as well. Before the price increase it might have been a tougher decision, but with the Dessert Party up around $50pp, it's not even close...Pirates & Pals.

It really does look fun. I promised my fiance that I would take him on the cruise sometime, but he usually can't make our family trips because of work. Next time he can come I will book this and an ADR at T-Rex just for him, lol.

I do agree that with the price increase on the dessert party, the cruise seems like a better bang for your buck. We paid the old price and thought it was worth it for that, but $50 a person? I just don't know. I'm sure there will be a price hike around the corner for the cruise as well. It seems like so much more of an experience for just a bit more money.

We've never done the cruise, but did the Wishes Dessert Buffet last month.

While I'm glad we did it, I wouldn't do it again. Our priority was the seating and the view without a fight for a spot, not the desserts. That said, we thought they were quite good. Nothing spectacular, but just as good as any other dessert buffet we've had.

It was the view that I did not care for. They don't turn off the lamp lights near the area, nor did they turn off lights in the seating area. We thought it was very distracting. The view itself is not good for the pre-show imo- trees block a great deal. For fireworks it was fine, but honestly, the free fp+ seating area was much, much better!

We definitely won't do it again at the new price with the limited view and the lighting issues.

If you do choose the buffet, I highly suggest being there no less than 45 minutes before they let you in. We arrived about that early and there were already a dozen or so people in front of us. While seats are reserved, it was a very long line to check in. They were still checking people in when we were seated eating desserts. For us, we were just a handful of people in the dessert lines- those coming later fought a much busier place. There is no shortage of food, it's just a pain dealing with that many people trying to serve themselves all at once.
