Pirates opening soon?

It needs so much refurb (broken animatronics & splashy boats) that I would really be surprised if it opened weeks early. Still hoping for pixie dust for those at MK this summer but it's in bad shape. I rode it last Fall and again in February. I got soaked. More than Splash Mountain. You aren't supposed to get wet on POC. My feet were soaked, butt soaked, half my head soaked and a mouth full of water. And its nasty water in there. The boats they took on from Disney Land are not working properly. The intro wasn't working. Fog not working. Projection screen not working. When the ride ended in front of Jack Sparrow, the boats behind us did a chain crash and hit the back of our boat hard. The ride desperately needs some TLC.

Ive sat in a wet seat and Left with Mildly wet shoes but never got my head soaked - looking forward to updated animations though - the dog with the key in its mouth is daughters highlight so as long as that stays I'm good lol

It definitely needs the refurb but I'm still hoping for an early open. Our last day is 9/19 and would love a ride before we leave.

Our last MK day in of the 25th, just one day before the scheduled opening. I am really hoping we get lucky!
My family, too. Since we're driving, we're thinking of extending our tickets one day so we can ride it in the morning before we leave.

I'm happy I live close to DL, and can ride our POTC here anytime I want. I hate POTC at WDW. It's just a waste of time.

Really:confused3Really Now.......

A waste of time??? Hate is a rather harsh / strong word......I'm sure you don't hate it.....True Pirates is a lil longer and a better ride/ along w/ the Restaurant there but, most of the ride is similar.....

I am hoping they take their time with the refurb. And get it right! Please don't rush on our account...that's my favorite ride!! pirate: :dog:

Well if memory serves new fantasyland opened December 2012. We got into the attractions and Bog first weeke of November doing previews, so I say anything is possible.

We were at WDW Dec 13 - 20 2014. ASMu food court was not scheduled to be up and running from refurb until the 20th. It was already going when we checked in. Also HH was at tail end of rehab that was due to open Dec 20th. It was open on the 13th as well and every other time we were at MK that week. Good luck! I would think they put out the worst case date and shoot for before that to keep the crowds happy:)

Mind telling me the difference between the two? Never been to DL!

It's starts out like you're down at the bayou...Sort of like the Mexico ride in Epcot & you see the Blue Bayou TS . And it's dark & you see a couple lil shanty shacks & fireflies & hear frogs n stuff. Then theres some underground cavernous caves. The bulk of the ride is similar, but there's another scene near the end which has shooting and stuff which is kinda kewl...It's about 2 minutes longer if I had to guess.

Check it out ---> here:

Also, while the primary show scenes are very similar, the introductory "scene-setting" is a bit different, so that the underlying nature of the trip itself is different between the two parks. (Admittedly, most guests aren't really listening that closely, so the difference is hardly noticeable. )

i love disney world better overall by far, but i will admit i do like pirates better in DL. even just waiting in line is cool, part of it is kinda outside?? plus i just love that little part of disneyland since theres nothing like that is DW. the perfume shop right there (France has one and its my favorite shop haha they remember me from year to year since i always get a bottle of something and lately they have etched something on the bottle) and the whole bayou scene is just awesome. i love the little alleyway shops back in there and the restaurant where you can get the bread bowl soups.

We were standing in front of HH when they opened it early! It was awesome because it is one of DS favs and we got to ride it unexpectedly with NO line!

I hope it doesn't open too early, sorry to those going in August and early Sept. I would rather have all of the kinks worked out and see a better ride. When Splash was down during one visit, I was hoping against hope it would re-open a few days early, and I think it actually opened a few days late. When I thought logically about it, I realized that it SERIOUSLY needed it. There were some major problems there. It made riding the next trip all the better.

And FWIW, we think POTC is oodles better at DL too, and I can't even tell you why exactly. Everything about it just seemed better. POTC and Space Mountain are far superior at DL, but that is just our opinion.
