Pirates on the Dining Plan!! A week of Disney dining! (with lots of pics!)

I'm not a huge fan of the Flame Tree (don't eat much meat, and don't love barbecue), but I might go there just for those onion rings and some key lime pie!

Looking forward to hearing about your meal at Olivia's. I have had one breakfast and one dinner there, and enjoyed them both very much.

We have always neglected Flame Tree until we heard all the rave on the Dis! But their food is REALLY good!
I am working on my Olivia's update - it should not be long now!

Royal Anandapur Tea Company, Mara and Olivia's

Right after lunch we walked around a bit to get "warm" again. As I mentioned before this was the only "cold" day we had during the whole week and since we had been sitting outside it was a bit cold. We got in line for Everest and then we were real cold.
We remembered that there was a teastand and thought we might try some. They actually have REAL nice tea.

Tom had the Green Dragon Oolong - A Formosa Oolong. This tea stands out with its unique aroma, taste and dark green appearance, which he liked very much. I am not such a fan of semi fermented teas - so, this was not MY cup of tea, so to speak.
But I enjoyed my Assam TGFOP - From the Mikir Hills, an extension of the Great Himalyan Range, in Umrangshu. The blackish tea leaves, with golden tips, brew to a bright copper liquor with a sweet musty smell and a bold molty taste. I drink a lot of strong black tea and this is just up my street! So nice.
We got a seat in the sun right at the river/water and enjoyed our hot beverages.

Once we were nicely warmed up again we decided to hop onto Everest one more time and while on the ride it started to drizzle, so we got going, especially since we had a dining reservation at 6pm.
Once we were at the car we decided to pay a very short visit to the Animal Kingdom Lodge and while there we actually cancelled our 6pm dinner ressie and got another one for 7.15 at Olivia's Cafe.

After that we went back to our resort to chill for a while until our ressie time at Olivia's Cafe came up.
Even though walk ups had to wait we were seated immediately. We got a nice booth and while we were still studying the menus our server came by, introduced herself and brought out some bread and butter.

The bread was slightly warm and had a coconut flavour to it. The butter melted nicely into it. So good!

We decided on having a glass of wine with our meal since they had some Fess Parker white wine. It was expensive, but it was so worth it. A very nice white wine!
Needless to say we got some Diet Cokes as well.

Tom had the Plantain-wrapped Mahi Mahi - with roasted garlic oil and warm potato salad. The Mahi Mahi was so moist and went so well with the plantain and the potato salad was nice.

I had the Penne Pasta with Shrimp - with Asiago Cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, baby spinach, olive oil and garlic. Even though this was different from what I expected the dish was really nice. The shrimp were fresh and still juicy and the spinach, oil, tomatoes and garlic worked well. At first I was a bit sceptic, because there was "no actual sauce" but this did not need any sauce. It was really wonderful with all the ingredients working together well.

Tom decided on trying the Chocolate Cake - served with raspberry and vanilla sauces. It was fun to see Tom trying all those chocolate things - this is usually what I order. His chocolate cake was moist and nice and went will with the sauces that came with it.

I can't resist anything Key Lime, so the Key Lime Tart with Mango and Raspberry Sauce was my choice for dessert. I have had that before and it is just devine, but it is quite a lot of dessert, even if it doesn't look like it. I was never able to finish it!

After dinner we went to Epcot, since they had Extra Magic Hours. We spent some time doing some rides and operated on Pal Mickey, since he had chewed up another set of batteries. We left the park shortly before they were officially closing to go back to our resort and finish up packing. Once we were finished I needed ONE more treat.

The Zebra Domes we had gone to Animal Kingdom Lodge for. In the afternoon when we went there the guard at the gate had a good laugh when he asked about what we were going to do at AKL and my answer was - I need some Zebra Domes. We were welcomed in without any further questions.

Tom had another asignment - he had to finish HIS snacks!

Oh, and by the way he did not have all of these during that one night!

We went to bed at around midnight, but we HAD TO take a photo of the "bullet hole" in one of the pirate beds. We actually noticed this hole two days into our trip and joked about it ever so often.

Is that supposed to sound nice? However, I love strong black tea, so since you liked it, maybe I'll give it a try.

I copied that description from allears - and I was somewhat taken aback myself!
But I guess it should read "malty" - it definitely wasn't moldy!!!
They are spooning the loose tea leaves into those little sachets and if you like strong black tea, this is really NICE tea!!!

Flame Tree actually looks quite good - was there sauce on that pulled pork, it doesn't look like it and, as I'm sure you know from my previous trippies and reviews, I'm a fan of 'dry' food so it looks like it would be right up my street.

Oh, you HAVE to eat the cake with Mickey's face on - his ears taste really yummy!
No, there was NO sauce on the pulled pork. We did get some barbeque sauce to go with it, but it is yummy without the sauce as well!
Food at Olivia's is always yummy! That Key Lime Pie is an old favourite of mine - it is SOOOOOOOO good! Have you been there for breakfast? They have such yummy options for breakfast!

Thank you for being on board! As my DB already answered Olivia's is at Old Key West. It is an old favourite of ours, which we discovered while we stayed at OKW in 06!

Contempo Cafe and Enchanted Grove

Our last day! We wanted to really get the most out of it and in the morning we packed the remaining stuff and loaded everything into the car. One last stop at CBR was the arcade. We still had the arcade card and since we weren't intending on using it we were on the lookout for someone who would. Right at the entrance I ran into a really nice lady and when I told you I was looking for someone who wanted our card, she was happy to volunteer. She had two kids, but only one card, so now those two didn't have to fight over whose turn it was.
Finally we were on our way to the Contemporary to have breakfast at the Contempo Cafe.
Once we had made it to the Cafe we checked out the "kiosk" order process and then tried it ourselves.

I had some Hot Chocolate. Well, to be very honest, it was not as good as the one I am used to from DLRP. But it was still a nice breakfast drink. Tom had some coffee, but since it was the usual Nescafe (yuck) we didn't think it was worth a photo.

You are allowed two bottled drinks on the DDP, so Tom got some chocolate milk and I had an orange juice. Regular stuff, nothing fancy.

We both had decided to order the Bounty Platter - scrambled eggs, bacon, breakfast potatoes, biscuit and french toast. It usually comes with sausage, but we both didn't really want any, so we took it off the order.
This was just your regular food court breakfast. The eggs were a bit on the dry side, bacon and potatoes were quite nice. I am not a huge fan of the biscuits, but it was okay, just the french toast was DRY!! Not even pouring loads of syrup over it made it any better.
We will return during our summer trip but definitely not for breakfast. Their sandwiches sound very interesting, so this is what I wanna try in August.

After breakfast we hit the Magic Kingdom, had a lot more photopass photos taken (we ended up with 1377 edited photos, not bad for a week) and went on all our favourite rides again.
When we got thirsty we stopped at the Enchanted Grove and had some more drinks.

I had another Raspberry Lemonade Slush. Mmmh ..... so good.

Tom had an Iced Cappuccino, which he enjoyed very much. We also got a bottle of Dasani Water.

Then we got on the Peoplemover again, because we had to kill time before our Space Mountain Fastpass.

Since we LOVE the Carousel of Progress, we did that as well before we headed towards the exit.
There was another photopass photographer at the exit so we stopped to have one more photo taken. We were pleasantly surprised to find it to be Lauren, a photographer who we had met earlier in the trip and had lots of fun with.

We chatted for a while, while she took photos and suddenly another castmember was throwing Mickey Confetti on us. I got all excited about it and Lauren told me that I HAD TO go home with more confetti in my hair. She told us to follow her and to our amazement we ended up at the barber shop!! It was shockfull of people and she just pulled us in, I had to sit down, cover my face while she put hairspray on my hair and then "drowned" me in Mickey confetti!!! You should have seen the look on the other people's faces!!!

Tom and Karin, I'm going to be there in about 3 weeks, and I'm going to try my best to remember to stop by the Royal Anandapur Tea Company and read the descriptions there to find out whether or not it really says "molty". I have it in my head that maybe I actually read that word standing there at the counter, but then again, there's no accounting for most of the stuff rolling around in my head!

Breakfast at the Contempo Cafe looked a lot like breakfast at Everything Pop or any other WDW hotel food court. That's too bad, because like you, I find the place intriguing. I guess because they have cool touch screens for ordering, I expect them to make good eggs!
