Pirates on the Dining Plan!! A week of Disney dining! (with lots of pics!)

Awesome reviews! I also just went back to look at your other dining reviews and they were awesome!

PS I've actually visited Vienna and was able to practice my German (which I haven't used in a looooong time so I really don't remember anything :( ) I do remember buying a ton of the real Mozartkugeln which were AMAZING!

Welcome! :flower3:
Thanks for the praise! When did you visit Vienna? Where else did you go? - Sorry I am a nosey person, :rotfl2: !
OUR Mozartkugeln are the best, aren't they? I just had one while writing the Grand Floridian review! :lmao:

Man, you have me kicking myself for deciding to skip Spoodles this year.

Hakuna Matata! Don't worry - To eat at Spoodles will be the perfect excuse for another trip to WDW!

Is it fruity tasting? I don't like wine usually, but if it taste fruity, I would like it.

I actually don't like red wine, but this has a different, fruitier taste and I really liked it!

I love Sangria - I really need to go try Spoodles, too, so we can have a pitcher. I'm just afraid I may act like Mickey did and end up with my head in the pitcher. :rolleyes1

Thank you very much for posting a picture of the inside of this and explaining what it is, because I had NO idea what a Freddo was, let alone a Semi-Freddo! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Well, of course you ate some of them in the car! What good is stopping when you see the "hot now" sign if you don't pig out on a few while they're still warm? :cool1:

Now, picture this - I used to live one block from a Krispy Kreme store, where I had to drive home past the "hot now" sign almost every day! :scared1: I could even smell them from my front porch! Try to imagine attempting to resist that temptation on a daily basis. :faint:

Don't worry, I had MY nose in the pitcher as well :rotfl: and I didn't know what the Freddo was either :rotfl2:

And as far as Krispy Kreme goes - we only discovered it LAST summer :scared1: :sad2:
I would NOT be able to drive PAST the "hot now" sign - I am a VERY weak person when it comes to yummy treats - and smelling it from the porch - that is torture!!! :scared:

Yes it usually has a sweeter/fruitier taste than red wine. I'm not a fan of red wine, I tend to gravitate towards the sweeter white wines, and I love the Sangria at Spoodles!

Welcome! :flower3:

I want that lunch you had at GF with that Raspberry Colada for dessert. :cloud9:

I've already got my May ADRs, but I'm gettin'
some good 'food for thought' for my Sep trip. :thumbsup2

Thank you. :goodvibes

OH MY GOSH I AM JEALOUS! Like you said, I tried one in the Germany pavilion at EPCOT. I was SO excited to see them and told my friends "OMG YOU HAVE TO TRY ONE!!!!" And so we all bought our Mozartkugeln and they look at me after their first bite like  And then I was disappointed because I swear they didn't taste like that when was in Vienna!

Ok, I went when I was 16, so that would be like the spring of 2004. We went to Prague, Budapest, Berlin, and Vienna in about ten days. So I definitely would love to go back. I can't remember the name of the other town we visited but it had an old concert hall...I can't believe I don't remember this :guilty:

Anyways, it was awesome. Ich liebe Wien!! (Speaking of Wien, how about all the 16 year old boys laughing at the "Wiener Bus" )

Hurry up with the review of the tea stand! I'm determined to try it in a few weeks! :)

Oh my goodness, it seems like I just finished your last Dining Review and now you're already doing another one! :goodvibes

Great reviews as always! We LOVE WPE and went there in November - never a disappointment! Your airline food looked fantastic as well!!!

You and your brother seem to get along great. How nice to have such an agreeable traveling partner! :)

Michelle

Hi sorry I've been lurking, but since I love sangria so much, I just had to answer that question! Loving the reviews! :thumbsup2 Also wanted to add that though you are from Austria, I thought you must originally be from America since your grasp of the language is perfect, but I read back on one of your trip reports & you state that English is a foreign language to you. Never would've guessed!

As long as there is a new trip "in the works" for you!!! When ARE you going in September?
We will definitely go back to the GFC in September! Maybe we'll try breakfast this time. So much food, so little time! :lmao:

We tried the ones in the German Pavillion with friends too! They were YUCK!!!! There is lots of different brands of Mozartkugeln here in Austria, but the BEST are the ones from Mirabell!

Hurry up with the review of the tea stand! I'm determined to try it in a few weeks! :)

Tea stand coming right up!

Welcome back! :flower3: The airline food was fantastic, :) we were so lucky to get that upgrade.
It's fun travelling with my brother - he absolutely shares the same interests and LOVES food too!!! :cloud9:

Well, I am a true Austrian, no connection to the US, other than that we love travelling there.:thumbsup2
But I do have to admit that I do teach ............. English at school! And I love writing reviews and trip reports :rotfl: You can check them out on my homepage - there is a link in my signature!

Sorry for not updating in such a long time, but work has been rather demanding those last few days.

Joy of Tea Stand in Epcot, Ohana's for dinner

Okay, where did we leave off? Oh, well, after our lunch at the Grand Floridian Cafe we took the Monorail over to Epcot. Since this was early afternoon there were LONG lines for all the rides, so we ventured into Innoventions and this caught our eye!

IMG_0259.jpg

We signed up to help poor little Kim Possible! ;) They scan your ticket and you get a Fastpass like little ticket with a time and place where to report for your mission. Our mission was to start in about a hours time, so we decided to go through Innoventions. We stopped a lot along the way watching the different experiences offered.
When we left we saw that the wait time for Mission Space had changed. 20 minutes for the orange team. We went for it and it was 3 times 20 minutes, LOL!
After Mission Space it was time to report back to Norway to help Kim Possible. I do not want to give to much away - but we laughed from start to finish - it was such an experience, going to find all the clues and finishing the mission.
Absolutely go and try this for yourself!!! Here are a few photos of our mission!

IMG_0262.jpg

Kimmunicator - you are given this at the start of your adventure.

IMG_0265.jpg

If you look really hard you can see us in the right hand lower corner

During our mission

Tom handing back the Kimmunicator at a secret location!
The whole mission took about half an hour, but only because we had to listen to the Kimmunicator several times because it was so loud all around us. After the mission we were really thirsty and once we passed the Joy of Tea Stand in China I knew what I wanted. I needed to try some of their tea!

IMG_0282.jpg

I had the Peach Oolong sweetened iced tea. Very nice but I needed to get used to the very sweet taste of it.

IMG_0284.jpg

Tom had the Green Lychee Mist with Tequila, Melon Liqueur and Cream. He loved it - it's not MY cup of tea so to speak.

We strolled back to Future World and spent quite some time in Mouse Gear. Then we headed back to the Monorail to go back to the Ticket and Transportation Center. We used the walkway from the TTC to the Polynesian instead of using the Monorail and walked through the beautiful grounds of the Poly. We even went down onto the beach and sat there for a while watching the "traffic" on the Seven Seas Lagoon.

Our reservation was for 6.10 and we entered the lobby at 6. We signed in at Ohana and were handed a beeper. There were no seats in the lounge, so we sat on the bench facing the check in counter. BOY, did they turn away people!! Many of them tried Kona and did get in, but Ohana was busy. At 6.15 we were led to our table. And we could not believe it, we had been at that same table before. How large are your chances to be seated at the same table at such a large restaurant? :confused3

IMG_0302.jpg

Our server was here within a few minutes and brought some "Welcome bread" - nice and soft, with a slight hint of Coconut and Pineapple. Yummy!
We were asked if we had been to Ohana's before and since we had she welcomed us back and took our drinks order for Diet Cokes and Backscratchers.

IMG_0307.jpg

IMG_0305.jpg

Mixed greens with a honey-lime dressing - the best salad ever! LOVE it!

IMG_0306.jpg

House Made Peanut Sauce, Chimichurri Sauce, Pineapple Sweet and Sour Sauce - we love the peanut sauce - so yummy and the Pineapple Sweet and Sour Sauce, but I am not such a big fan of the Chimichurri one!

Right now the drinks were delivered!

IMG_0303.jpg

IMG_0304.jpg

Backscratchers - Made with light and dark rum, passion fruit juice and topped with Jack Daniel's and a bamboo backscratcher - mmmh!! Heaven!!

IMG_0308.jpg

Pork Dumplings topped with a Pineapple Sweet and Sour Sauce - these are just so good!!! I had quite a few of them during the meal!

IMG_0311.jpg

Honey-Coriander Chicken Wings - a little messy to eat, but very tender and moist!

IMG_0312.jpg

Out came the first meats - Asian Barbecued Pork Loin - cooked all the way through but still moist - amazing

IMG_0313.jpg

Next was the Mesquite Grilled Turkey. A bit on the dry side, but who cares - just "dunk" it in the yummy sauces and it comes back to life :lmao:

IMG_0314.jpg

Mixed greens, broccoli and sugar snap peas with a little bit of carrots. We LOVE those, but it was amazing to see that we were about the only ones who cleared THAT plate. Most other tables were giving the greens a miss!

Ohana's continued!

IMG_0315.jpg

The greens were followed by the noodles. Even though these are nice I still miss their scalloped potatoes. Oh, and these noodles get cold FAST!!

IMG_0317.jpg

And here is some of their Marinated Sirloin Steak. It was cooked medium and very good but we were going on "full" by that time.

And if you missed the Spicy Grilled Peel - n - Eat Shrimp - they missed us too! :lmao: We never even noticed they didn't bring us any until they arrived way after we had finished eating. Well, another reason to hit Ohana's again.

IMG_0319.jpg

This is one of the reasons we LOVE Ohana so much. Their 'Ohana bread pudding served a la mode with Bananas and Caramel Sauce. Oh my god, this is to die for!! The breadpudding is moist and the sauce goes so well with it and then imagine the Vanilla Ice cream melting all over it. Heaven on earth!

We were absolutely stuffed when we left. But then they had rescheduled Wishes shortly before we left for WDW, so we could easily make it to the MK for a relaxing ride on the TTA and Wishes. Believe me Main Street was packed!!! But we were able to get a good spot and enjoyed the fireworks from our favourite location.

IMG_0370.jpg

On the way back to the resort we stopped at Port Orleans Riverside and picked up two of those wonderful treats.

IMG_0688.jpg

Magic Cookie bars - thank god there are NO calories at Disney, otherwise this would right go to your hips, but man is it disneyliscious!!

DDP:
Ohana: $ 57,50
Riverside Mill (2Cookie Bars): $ 7,00
Paid for DDP $ 560
Left $ 296,70 - $ 57,50 - $ 7,00 = $ 232,20

Next up: Main Street Bakery for breakfast, Enchanted Grove, Columbia Harbour House, Yak & Yeti

Tom - is that you?

I am loving your dining adventures! What fun times you and Karin have together. Thanks to both of you for sharing them with us!

Yes!! That's me!! I am glad you enjoy our dining reviews as much as we enjoyed eating and munching all day! :goodvibes

Great updates!
We went to 'Ohana in '07 and DH asked if he could buy one of the wooden backscratchers without the drink. (He had been on a quest for a wooden backscratcher as he doesn't think the plastic ones are very effective.) Anyway, our "cousin" gave him one for free and we brought it home and he loves it!

:tink: Hello all! Hope you like our dining adventures! popcorn::

Welcome to the DIS!! and our dining review! :flower3:

I had to  when I read your comment about the backscratcher - mine went right to the catsitters!! We sacrificed ourselves just so he can now scratch HIS back! :lmao:

I knew it! I just needed some one to verify it ... there are NO calories at Disney!

Whew!:woohoo:

Great reviews!!! We love Spoodles so I was glad to see that the shrimp appetizer was so generous. I'm a light eater and am always looking for appetizers I can use as an entree. Can't wait for more reviews...:goodvibes

...reading your review! Especially since next Spring will be my first (adult) trip & I can't wait to try out the restaurants! Those Ohana sauces have me drooling. So yummy!

And did you notice the Hidden Mickey in your review of GF Cafe? If you turn that crab cake photo just a wee bit....Voila!:thumbsup2

Just got all caught up! Your reviews are fantastic! Can't wait to read the rest.

So glad to see so many pictures from Ohana

We have an ADR for DS 12th bday and I was not sure he would like the food and he was walking past and said that looks awesome where is it! LOL
