Ok so i know that they are going to be remodeling the nride soon but what exatcly is planned for the reconstruction?are they changin everything or wha? thanks! pirate:

As far as I know (or what I've read/heard) they are changing the ship in the battle scene into the Black Pearl (which I am realllly looking forward to seeing - those tatty black sails make that ship look fantasitc!) and having Barbosa replace the current captain. And several Jack Sparrow AA's will be placed around the overall attraction to add to the additional storyline they're bringing in...

From Wikipedia:
In 2006, Walt Disney Imagineering will give both versions at Disneyland and the Magic Kingdom major overhauls to coincide with the release of the second movie in the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy. Both storylines will be completely dismantled and replaced with storylines involving Captain Barbossa (from the first movie) and Davy Jones (from the second and third movies) leading separate searches for Jack Sparrow through the many scenes of the original attractions. The "Hurricane Scene", the "Crews Quarters Scene", the "Captains Quarters Scene" and the "Treasure Scene" at Disneyland will all be unchanged visually except for a few new props used in the movies. The Disneyland ride will receive its official re-opening at the world premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, which will also be held at Disneyland.

A lot of people are upset over the rumored changes (and the fact that we now know for sure that Disney are indeed changing it somehow to tie-in with the movies) but I for one am happy it's having a makeover. Yeah, I absolutely LOVED the original but things do need to change. Afterall, Walt said that as long as there is imagination in the world, Disneyland will never be complete!! :goodvibes

Oh, and music from the movie will be heard in the queue now too. Apparently.

Don't depend too much on Wikipedia's predictions. Last year their entry for the Haunted Mansion said the Haunted Mansion Holiday was going to be moved to the Magic Kingdom in WDW.

I spoke to a Cast Member who reported seeing more than one Jack Sparrow AA (he said he had seen "them"). But from what I've heard, the attraction will incorporate some elements from the movie, but the movie will not take it over.

There is a new special effect that some CMs have reported that is really sensational. It's a projection effect, similar to the one in Indy, but much better.

As for the Magic Kingdom attraction at WDW, the last scene (the treasure room) will be gutted and a Jack AA will be added.

I've read all that Wikipedia have up on other sites too. That was the first I came across which encorporated pretty much everything I've heard so far. And about the multiple Jack AA's... yeah, apparently the idea is Barbosa trying to find Jack through the town and such so multiples will be needed. And I read (a while back now so this may not be correct) that there'll be a final one when you go up the hill at the end. It's kinda boring there at the moment so having a comedic ('coz they are gonna be comedic - hopefully!!) Jack AA ending the ride will be amazing.

The projection effect sounds cool?! I sooooooooo can't wait to ride the new version!!!! :goodvibes

Though I could get used to the idea of putting the Black Pearl in there (it was very well designed for the movie), I really hope they don't lose Blackbeard in favor of Barbosa. Barbosa would be a great addition somewhere else, but Blackbeard has become a staple of the attraction, and I say changing it too much would ruin it. I'm still against how they changed Swiss Family Treehouse to coincide with Tarzan :crazy2:

I'm KIND OF with you on that. Although I think the addition of Barbosa would be fantastic, I think it will change the ride TOO much. But they can't have the Black Pearl and not have Barbosa on it. And I am TOTALLY up for them putting the Black Pearl in there. That's the thing I'm most looking forward to on the new ride.

Guess it's just gonna be one of them things you'll never agree with 100%. I'm sure the changes are going to make it EVEN better than it already is though. Just think of it like that. :)

I think that making it better would be debatable in the sense that it will change the ride the way it has been for along time. I think changing some of the technology is great and using the canal where they store the xtra boats will make the ride different. I can not wait to see it. We will be there on June 22.

Jack pirate:

I saw on the disney channel. It had captain jack and will fighting with swords.

I'm actually curious about the new AAs and projection and not too worried about the changes. After all, they can always change it again once the movie has become long-forgotten history. And when they change it, think of all the new AAs and technology they'll have to add then.

I just love how Disney keeps moving forward with AA technology. It's so amazing. ::yes::

Things do need to change though. I love the ride as is too (even with the changing of the town scenes :rolleyes2) but it'd be boring if it were to stay the same FOREVER. Change is good and the ride is going to be even better for these changes. And as everyone's saying... the new technology is going to be amazing!! At least it's still there. Not saying they ever will (because they'd be totally mad if they did and I'm sure they would never EVER do such a thing) but at least they're not getting rid of it. Just improving it so future generations can enjoy it even more.

;) Geez, 1000th happy haunt, you are alwyas talking to somebody...

While it could use some changes, there are some things I don't think I would like changed (like the jail scene). We'll have to wait and see.

When is the DL rehab scheduled for? We were talking about going to DL in mid-May.

From what's being said, it's going to close sometime in March and will then re-open on premiere day which is rumored to be June 22nd. So if you go in May, it'll be closed. :(

Thanks for the info. Ghost1000 would probably advise me to go to the Pirates site that she is the admin for - I totally forgot about that!

Do you find it a little bit much to swallow. i mean, they're messing with a classic. yes pirates does need a facelift, but do they really need to change the whole thing? It'd be cool if they added a few things from the movie here and there. I dunno I just find it kind of  + :( + :) (smileys can help when u dont know how to explain sumthin, lol). anyway, i rode the ride a few nights ago and they already changed the boats, they look like real wood now.
:wave2: pirate:

We enjoyed the time we rode it. Twice actually, the people at the restaurant were nice too! Ocassional exchange of loud hi's & hello's made the boat ride a bit pleasant and childlike.

They're not changing everything. Well, depends on what you class as being the main features of the ride. If it's the ship and/or captain then I guess yeah, it is a hard change to come to terms with. But I don't think it'll be THAT different. And it's exciting because it'll kind of be a new attraction with new things to discover, etc. :)

The changes on PotC I am totally happy with (maybe because I absolutely LOVED the film) but I can see where people come from when I think about the HM and when people suggest what if they were to add an Eddie Murphy AA in there. That I am COMPLETELY against. Although I think we can only say the HM is safe because the movie wasn't as big of a hit as Pirates was. Thank the lord!!! :rotfl:

I love the original. Ideally I want to be a purest, however, I see value in change. I say go for it! I have great memories of the original and I look forward to many more new memories with the planned changes. :goodvibes

lol, yeah ur right. im also happy that the haunted mansion movei stayed true to the ride, so even if it was a hit they didn't have to change anything ::yes:: :rotfl2:
