Pirates of The Caribbean

I think it badly needs an update.

I can understand the nostalgic appeal for those who've been going back to DL for years, but when we saw it for the first time in December 04 we were disappointed by it.

We thought it showed its age, the effects were quite basic, and it was shown up by Haunted Mansion and Indiana, to name just two.

I'm looking forward (at some point hopefully) to seeing update, which sounds like it will stay true to the ride theme while adding some badly needed wow factor.

From what's being said, it's going to close sometime in March and will then re-open on premiere day which is rumored to be June 22nd. So if you go in May, it'll be closed. :(

Are we talking about the premiere of the movie? I know that it'll be in theaters 07/07. Are they planning any other special events?

lol, yeah ur right. im also happy that the haunted mansion movei stayed true to the ride, so even if it was a hit they didn't have to change anything ::yes:: :rotfl2:
There was talk (just Dl fans making things up) of them adding an Eddie Murphy AA in the graveyard scene. Some even said replace the caretaker and his dog with Eddie. Although I did actually kinda like that idea, HM is FINE as is. As LucyKate says, Pirates needs some desperate attention. Thinking about it, it looks like you're in the park centuries back. Not in the 21st Century.

Yeah, the premiere for the movie. Some of the rumored dates seemed a little too late considering the movie was on general release a few days later but June 22 seems OK. Just the premiere like they had for Curse of the Black Pearl as far as I know. The red carpet down Main Street and the showing of the moving around the RoA. With the screen on TSI and the seats in front of Pirates, etc. Maybe they'll work around the Pirates entrance though. I don't know. I'm really looking forward to seeing what they do. No doubt it'll be spectacular. :goodvibes

Actually, from what I've been reading, the ride is scheduled to reopen June 16th. If the premiere is earlier, my guess is they'll speed up the refurbishment so that the opening does coincide. Same would be true if they pushed the opening back a week or two. We'll be there June 21st, so my fingers are crossed (even though the lines will be awful).

The news is that POTC ans BB close on March 6, 2006 and re-opens June 22 2006 to coinside with the premiere of Dead Man's Chest. I have already started bugging Disney Studios about an invite. Being a commoner I doubt that will happen, but it never hurts to try.

Have a great day,
