Pirates of the Caribbean Refurb 10/13

I agree with you Sherry, it is kind of hard to wait in line for atleast 50 minutes when you've been on a ride at least a 100 times and it is exactly the same. I think they should continue adding things to the attractions just to keep everything fresh, while still keeping tradition. Like Walt said, "Disneyland will never be completed as long as there is imagination left in the world." So the people who gripe about things being added to the parks should know that it was never intended to stay the way it is. Thats what I love about DLR. They always have imagineers thinking up and creating new and innovative things. If they happen to do a Christmas overlay in the future for POTC I will warmly welcome it and think of you while on the ride !

Yep! I think Disney does a really good job with Disneyland (I am not counting DCA because that is still a work in progress) in that they maintain 90% the stuff people remember being in the park for decades, but they also find ways to add little touches and surprises to freshen things up. So you get that sense of nostaligia and innovative thinking. The past and the future coming together, like we were discussing in our thread about the effects of Disneyland on everyone. Just like the added piranha got me on the Jungle Cruise, if I hear that some of the little houses are decorated for the holidays, I will go on the Storybookland Canal Boats. It doesn't HAVE to be a whole transformation of a ride like the HMH and IASWH are, but they could just throw in little new details here and there and that is enough for me! I mean, I wouldn't want them to take a ride like Peter pan and suddenly make it a wild thrill ride. I think it should stay the way it is with little added touches here and there. I would love to see the direction DLR would take if Walt Disney were alive!

I don't see any mention of an POTC overlay on Disney's Holiday page. They mention HM and IASW. So I doubt we are getting an overlay!

It was just wishful thinking because of the 2+ week closure of POTC in mid-to-late October. I didn't really think they would do it, BUT if they ever did do a holiday Pirates, they would probably have to do the overlay and then test it out and fix any bugs before they spring it on the public, and a 2+ week period of down time on the ride would be perfect opportunity to do that!

Actually, each of the last times I have been to DL, Pirates was shut down for part of the time, so I think it just needs constant maintenance and tweaking, and they probably have to get all that taken care of before the rush of the holiday crowds occurs.

POTC and HMH I've been on hundreds and hundreds of times and I'll never stop loving them both! That said, I never will wait more than 10 minutes for HMH and 5 minutes for POTC as I can just come by later and simply jump on.

I love the classic attractions that usually don't have any real line to wait in!

There is a story about Walt Disney being in the park and overhearing a mother and child talking and the mother telling the kid that there is no need to go on Jungle Cruise any more times as they had seen all there was to see. The story goes that Walt was bothered that people would not want to ride the attractions more than a couple times and started promoting the idea to his imagineers that nothing is ever complete or finished and that everything can be improved and expanded upon. Something like that.

I like the idea and philosophy of always improving attractions in theory but it doesn't always work out perfectly! In the end the good out weighs the bad as long as they continue to improve and don't pull any more "Tomorrowlands" on us with just eliminating things in the name of so called progress.

I know I've said this before but I would rather see them spend $500 million of that DCA budget on recreating Tomorrowland than see them spend everything on the DCA upgrades. I like what they are going to do at DCA for the most part but to me TL should be the main focus even though it will continue to not be.

I'll be honest though...Im really really surprised that they picked Oct. out of all the months in the year to put down POTC...Oct. has turned into one of their more busier times because of MTTP formerly MHT and especially being that it will be down during the latter part of Oct. which is so close to Halloween...there are alot of things being refurbed during that time...Im kind of mind boggled...

my point is every one of these things houses ALOT of people at one time...if they are all down then that means its going to be more crowded than it normally will be...Conestoga Wagon is McDonalds french fries and people are always out there in line...and you may personally not like Fantasmic or Aladdin but tons of people do which again means more crowds in other places throughout the day..

It may not matter to the locals so much, but the Big Guys are flying across the country for a week at the end of October and we are very bummed. All we've heard is how much better PotC and Fantasmic are at DL and we won't get the chance to compare.

my 3 yr old cant wait to see jack and zero in the HM she loves that show.

I know we will be riding potc all day on the 12th when we get there. She should be 40 inches so we can go on all the other rides she could not ride before.
