The following image is being used to promote the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Very, very cool. I only hope the movie is as good as this piece of artwork (actually, it might be a photo from the storm scene in the early portion of the ride. Its hard to tell, but its still cool).

Whaaaaaaaaa Hoooo... looks creepy! Makes me want to go to Disneyland!

Very Cool !!!!!!!!!!!!
I am waiting with baited breath for this movie:p :p

I unfortunately don't have high hopes for this movie. Not after what they did to Country Bears. :(

I agree with Rajah. There's a huge risk in taking a theme park attraction and turning it into a movie, but I'll think good thoughts. The artwork rocks though.

I'm gonna go to see it just 'cause it's starring Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom. :teeth:

I just hope they do the movie justice.

I saw the poster for The Haunted Mansion movie. It was a good piece of art!

I agree, its good stuff!!

BTW: I don't have high hopes for the Pirates movie either, but I think it has a better chance than The Country Bears did.

On an slightly unrelated topic . . .

WHY, oh WHY are the wonderfully creative folks in the feature pictures department of Disney (sarcasm) resorting to using theme park attractions that have been around since the opening of Disneyland for new movies???

Surely, they can come up with something a bit more original?

(Sorry to hijack your thread, WDWHound . . . I DO think the artwork is cool; I just wish they would come up with fresher story ideas)

No problem, Deb. I agree completely. We discuss this a lot over on the rumors board. The concensus seems to be that its cheeper because Disney already owns the concept. Anything that saves a buck or two is big with Eisner these days.

Also, Eisner is not big on taking risks anymore. If you check out the new Lilo and Stich DVD, you will discover that literally ALL of the previews are for sequels of earlier Disney films (including yet another Dalmation film). They think its safer to rehash old characters than to invent something new, so we get Tarzan 2, Snow White 2, Little Mermaid 2, Dalmations 3, Peter Pan 2, Dumbo 2, Beauty and the Beast 2, Lilo and Stich 2, Lady and the Tramp 2, Lion King 2, Cinderella 2.... The list goes on and on and on. The new trend toward making movies based on theme park rides is just an extension of this pholosphy.

By the way, many of the most creative people who worked for Disney have been layed off. There is very little left of the Animation and Imagineering departments, and no plans to make a full fleged animated feature again. They have been deemed too expensive and the future has been declared to be in computer animation.

Wait! Whats that whiring sound I hear? Oh, sorry, its just Walt spinning in his grave.

Oh my, aren't I just full of gloom and doom today! Sorry about that. Sometimes I take this stuff a bit too seriously. Oh well, I still think the artwork is cool.

While I'm hoping PotC turns out to be good, I'm not holding my breath. On the other hand I think HM is probably a failed bit from the word go.

LOL, as many of us as there are in Car#3, we probably better make sure were in a coach bus! ;)

The artwork is great. I hope the movies live up to it.
