I couldn't believe that on that ride my stomach dropped so much i was screaming! i rode it only once!!

i think it's a 7 foot drop....... then i didn't go on the mummy bec. of POC

and on maelstrom when we were being pulled up high in the beginning i was SO SCARED it was a HUGE drop, but it wasn't bad at all......

Yes, POC always makes my stomach drop. I hate that ride until the drop. After that I can relax and enjoy the rest of it. I'm a real ride chicken. I've never even been on maelstrom.

I am usually a chicken but I love the drop on POC. In DL they have two drops and I think they are longer. Lots of fun to ride POC.

The drops at DL are definitely better. Actually, I thought the WDW experience was kind of wimpy.....kept waiting for the second bigger drop!!:yo-yo:

I've never done Maelstrom because I always thought the drop was worse then POC. Is it worse? I can handle POC. I don't love it but I can handle it.

The Disneyland drop is bigger. PoC is the only thing that I think DL does better than WDW. I can't ride the hrill rides-even though I would love 'em- so the drop on PoC is great!!:bounce:

I was expecting a little dip not a real drop. I was surprised but enjoyed it. We were in the first row and DS just held onto me. It was fun and I don;t like BIG drops!

The POTC drop really isn't bad at all(nor is Maelstrom). If those drops bother you, more rides on those attractions are in order(you'll get used to it).:earsboy:

I went through a short period of time when I totally avoided Pirates because of the stress the drop caused me! Then I decided it was ridiculous and now I love them (tried Splash once and that was enough, no desire to do it again). The Pirates drops have just the right about of "thrill" for me.

LisaR, the drop in Maelstrom is NOTHING, NOTHING, NOTHING! I avoided that one for awhile too but decided in a brave moment to try it. I was like "you have got to be kidding me, I've been afraid of THIS!" The drop might be longer but its more gradual and it seems to go down slow. Try it for yourself and you'll see. Its a piece of cake, spoken from a real scaredy cat.

Then I guess you've never been on Splash Mountain? Now there is a drop!
I swore I'd never go on it after the first time. I felt like I was going to fall right out of the log. But then I went again. I wanted to hear and see those cute Brer animals sing their songs. After that I was hooked and the drop didn't seem so bad any more.

I got so brave I actually went on TOT and RRC and loved those too. Before Disney I refused to go on any thrill rides. Big big chicken.
Disney: It really is cheaper than therapy. ;)

I dont like the drop either. The last time I went on Splash the CM insisted that I had to it front row...even though I asked several times to swop...in the end another couple swopped with me. I was sooo greatful. I dont have a problem getting wet...its the drop I cant stand. The only reason I still ride is because I love the scenes and songs.

I must not pay attention during rides, because I can't remember a drop in POC. Maelstrom I remember one, but I can't for the life of me remember one in POC. Only ridden it 3 times in my life, so maybe that's it.

Okay, I am trying Maelstrom one week from today! Thanks for the info.

That drop flutters me, too! I don't relax and enjoy it till afterwards, but at least it's early.

I have actually just started psychotherapy, believe it or not, to get over my fear of the coasters so that I can go on Splash Mountain and maybe Space Mountain with my family. My psychologist is doing relaxation and hypnotherapy, and says we basically just have to convince my subconscience that my fear is irrational, that nothing will happen (well, I know that, but apparently my subconscious doesn't. Splash Mountain makes me cry).

I'm trying it! I know I can suck it up for Pirates, and I'm longing to for Splash again, because the ride inside is so great. I suspect Space Mountain must be a lot of fun in there, too....I'll let you know how it goes, I've only had one appt. so far. Apparently this is really common therapy for fears like airplanes, dogs, rides, etc.

Ditto exactly!

My memory must be bad too - I don't remember a drop... And I've been on it about 6 or 7 times - but then I love thrill rides and a little bump in the path probably didn't even register...

I don't mind the drop, personally, but I think they should at least put a warning up to parents. I have seen a lot of unsuspecting parents take their kids on this and after the drop, the boat full of people are left with a frightened and screaming child. And yet all you can do is feel bad for them. :(

I love PoC, but I absolutely detest the drop. I ride it anyway, because of the rest of the ride. I'm glad the drop is in the beginning, so I can get it over with quickly (a HUGE reason I've never been on Splash Mountain). I was also very nervous when I saw the drop on Maelstrom, but that one didn't bother me at all.

I don't remember a drop in POC either!!! Granted I haven't been in about 6 years (and that is going to change in a few weeks - our 1st trip with our 4 year old!!!!!!!). Now I'll pay attention. Also it will be good to see how he does on that, then if he isn't too freaked SM here we come.
