Pirates of Caribbean - How wet???

I read a while back that Disney had installed new boats for POC and that guests were complaining about how wet they are now getting on the new boats - especially in the front rows. We have done POC many times in the past and gotten a little splash, but not drenched. We have several people in our party that do not want to get that wet, but we hate to miss one of our favorite rides - POC. Can anyone tell me if this is still the case or have they done something to fix it. Also, if please tell me your experience of sitting in the back row(s) and how wet that was compared to the front. Thanks.

When we were there in September, we were given the front row. We got soaked on that first drop. I was not expecting that at all. I've been on this ride so many times and never had that happen. It made for an uncomfortable day after that.

I was a solo rider put in the front seat. Thank goodness I was solo because I went right to the middle, put my water resisitant backpack on my lap to cover my front and lifted my feet when we went down the little hill.

My legs and shorts still got wet - not soaking but damp. My backpack got wet but it protected my shirt so I was happy. My tennis shoes were damp but not soaking wet because I lifted my feet and were dry in a couple of hours.

The spots next to me had water on the seats. If someone had been sitting in those they would have gotten wet. And there was water sloshing around on the bottom of the boat in the front.

I've decided I won't be riding Pirates on cold days or on the day I'm heading to the airport since I don't want to be wet on an airplane.

You get a tiny bit wet is all. No soaking and no ponchos needed. Drops hit you not waves. This is a maybe too, not all riders get wet and the most chance is on the front seat though we rode the front seat last weekend and my description above goes for that.

I have recently seen those sitting in the front row get soaked. Yes, soaked. Maybe avoid the front row.

they are no longer seating guests in the back row of the boats. all back rows are blocked.

We rode it twice on Jan 2 and back rows were not blocked. We also rode in front row and just got a slight spray.

the soaking and the back row was as recent as November. I wonder if they are still using the same boats.

One of my favorites so I ride it every trip. Never gotten wet. I'm often solo and they seem to put me in the back a lot. Or maybe because I'm heavy...counter balance and all. LOL

I was there this week and we rode in the very back row once and near the back twice. We didn't get at all wet during the ride. I'm pretty sure that if you avoid the front row or two and stay towards the inside of the boat at the beginning you'll be just fine.

How wet you get depends on how low your boat is sitting in the water. Choose your travelling companions carefully.

The back row is now opened up? Cool.

That is where I prefer to sit as a solo rider and they had them blocked off in December and put me in the front row instead.

We just got back as well and rode twice - once in the back row and once in the middle. We just got a little spray - not really wet. They closed the ride down a couple of weeks ago for a few days - maybe they corrected the problems?

It depends on how heavy your boat is. If your party (and others put in your boat) are larger people or the CMs fill your boat to full capacity, you'll probably get a little wet--maybe even soaked. If that's an issue, just ask for a middle row and seat those who don't want to get wet towards the inside.

In November, we were in second row of our boat. I got pretty wet (socks and shoes wet, sweatshirt pretty damp and sat in water from the last ride);however, my husband sitting right beside of me missed a lot of the water. Kind of weird because he is almost a foot taller than me.

Just rode it on Friday and we didn't get wet at all, nor did it look like anyone else did. And based on what I read on here, the front row definitely should have based on weight.

I was there a few weeks ago in December and sat in the front row. I got completely soaked as did my son and two other folks sitting with us. I was shocked because I didn't know that you even could get wet on the ride! Kinda funny but annoying at the same time. Beware the front row!!

Don't sit in the front row if you don't want to get wet!
We sat there a few weeks ago and got pretty wet. Thankfully it was a warm day and we dried quickly. :)

It seems so random that I won't ride POTC again without a poncho. A cloudy breezy spring day would be miserable if I was soaked to the skin.
