Pirates of Caribbean - How wet???

We rode this in the front row last May and my dd and I got absolutely soaked. I have ridden POTC probably more than 50 times and I have never had this happen until this trip.
When I say soaked, I mean not a dry spot on us! It was literally like a wave came up over us...
So I know this was awhile ago but it sounds like it is still possible... I love the ride but will NEVER ride in the front again. I was also on the side...

We were there during christmas and got soaked! I mean the I just got pushed into the pool soaked!!!! Granted we were in the front, but really I never ever thought that would happen! The boat we were in also was taking on water on the right side, not just a little bit of water, but the kind where everyone in the boat thought it was going sink!! I was never ever so glad to get off this ride! We had to go back to the room and change, the kids were so scared (ages 4&6) that they did not want to go on it for the rest of the trip. Still love this ride, just not ever in the front again

Bottom line is: don't skip the ride if you're afraid you'll get wet--just request to the CM a seat in the back. No point of missing the ride.

We've been twice since they installed the new boats, and we haven't gotten wet, but the floor of the boat had quite a bit of water in it both times. I saw a post from one of the Disney Groups I am in on Facebook today that there is rumor of a 6 month Pirates refurb and the rumor within that rumor is that it is to fix the problem of people getting so wet.

We just got back yesterday. We rode POTC 2 days last week, once in the second row and once in the first row. In the second row, the outside positions got light spray of drops, and in the first row, my daughter and I got a pretty good spray! I was wearing long pants and they were wet from knee to mid thigh, my shirt was about half covered in drops in front, and my backpack got wet enough that a Hidden Mickeys book got wet pages. I didn't realize this was a new water ride, as I don't recall getting wet when we last rode it in 2009! But memory isn't that good these days anyways.

Either way, its still one my favorite attractions...

The first time we rode this last march not a drop on us... the second time later in the trip we should have realised - the floor of the boat was wet and splashing on the seats. We got SOAKED... a wave literally overflowed into the boat and from thighs down we were wet. I hope the refurb is to fix it...I really love this ride for all the scenes and it was hard to enjoy when you are sopping wet and cold.

We'll go on it again this trip but might ask to sit further back.

just got back last week. was there from 1/4 thru 1/12. rode pirates many times and was concerned about the water situation after reading about it here. they were not loading the front row when we rode it most of the times. would have asked for another row if we were going to be put there. we never got wet at all so who knows, lol. and again ,we rode it quite a few times over the week.
