Pirate's Lair and Fireworks in May

My mom and I are going to Disneyland in mid-May, either the 15th or the 16th. Anyways, are there fireworks on Sundays in mid-May (I've only been to DL on Saturdays in May in the past decade)? My mom missed the fireworks last year because she had to take my brother to the airport and I'd like for her to see them (so if they aren't, then Saturday for sure). Second, what's the likelihood of Pirate's Lair being open on the 15th (as opposed to the 16th, and what's the likelihood that the reopening may be pushed back an extra day)? TSI wasn't open last year (Fantasmic issues) and so my mom didn't get to see all of the changes to the island.

Thanks much!

See that's what has me confused, RoA and all of the attractions on it are open the first week of May, but Pirate's Lair is still closed. Doesn't make sense that they'd still have it closed (considering that, as far as I can tell, the only update is new docks for TSI), but it isn't scheduled to open until the 16th (according to the various timelines I've found online, admittedly primarily Miceage). I could see having it closed for a couple of days too test the new docks, but once the water's in the riverbed, they can't do any major construction to the docks (or can they? It is Disney, after all).

There are a 1,000 things on Pirate's Lair that they could do work on after they open the river. If you're Disney, why delay opening the river if you have things that still need work on the island? They are not mutually exclusive. Let guests enjoy canoes, the Mark Twain, the Columbia, while finishing work on the island. :goodvibes

Just a thought,
Dreams

Now that I think of it, since they are delaying Fantasmic until May 27 that means something more is happening on TSI in May than just ROA. Maybe they are delaying F! because of PLATSI, or maybe vice versa. :confused3
