Pirates kill Texas man? What do you think?

I am not sure right now what to think. It does definitely smelly fishy. What would the drug cartel gain by killing them? I don't know just curious and thinking. Steal the jetski and sell it? Hold them for ransom - not if they killed one or both.

If the Mexican's killed them (the drug cartel people) - would they care what happened to the body and jetski.

Did they have their own jetskis? Rented? Did she have someone take care of him and they never went out? Or did someone on a boat meet them out there and took care of it?

There are so many possibilities/scenarios here. I would also be too upset immediately following this incident then again - you wait too long and everyone forgets about it. I was not crazy about her composure/description/tone, etc.

I hope his family finds some answers soon.

Something is definitely not right about her story. During the interview the victim's sister seemed to be more upset than the wife. Tiffany wasn't as distraught as one would think she would be. One possibility for her odd demeanor at such a time, is that she was pump full of prescription drugs. If she was on Prozac and/or Xanax, then it would make sense she seemed 'blank' at a time when she ought to have been hysterical. Regardless, what would 'Mexican pirates' gain by killing the man and leaving her behind? This story just doesn't add up. :sad2:

They are going to be on GMA this morning. Robin says that the police are questioning her story too.

Those "pirates"/cartel guys would've taken them hostage and held them for ransom, not shot them dead in the water. Or they would have gone after someone with a boat, hoping they had valuables on board.

None of this story adds up, especially the wife's reaction. She reminds me EXACTLY of Casey Anthony. Trying to force herself to cry or look upset. The only time this mornign she even sounded remotely close to crying was when Meredith Vieria asked her if she had anything to do with her husband's death to which the woman replied "NO." With her voice wavering.

Guilty.

OMG I was so mad at myself for questioning this story, and now i have all of you feeling the same way!!! I thought I was just still feeling betrayed by the woman who threw acid in her face, I fell for her story hook line and sinker. I thought I was just being suspicious!!

Anyway, something just does not seem right. But on the Today show this morning they said there is a witness who saw her being chased by a boat. According to the witness, she was chased back to the American side of the lake and once she was back in the U.S, the boat turned back. The only thing I can think of why they left her alive is to tell the story. Maybe they want the "glory" so to speak?

Or to stake a claim to the lake, as in marking territory. Plus, it's one thing to shoot someone on the Mexican side.....It's quite another to do it on the US side. The cartels seem to know they have the upper hand with Mexican law enforcment, but can't say the same about American law enforcement. Two sets of rules.

I have yet to see her. Still want to get a good look and assess whether or not she's a dry crier. There's a difference between being a dry crier and NOT CRYING.

I know I doubted the acid-thrown-in-face woman from the start. Something about the "Hey, pretty girl" part of the story didn't ring true. Long story short, I thought to myself, "She's not homely, but she's really not THAT pretty.....Not enough to be a target." And then I think she described her attacker as pretty. Something odd about the fixation with "pretty." Also, there was just a gut feeling that something was off.

Oh boy...did you all see the piece on the Today Show this morning? Meredith point blank asked the wife if she had anything to do with her husbands murder and the wife stammered and could barely get an answer out. I don't think she is on anti-anxiety pills either. If she were on meds, I would hope she would have someone advising her not to appear on live TV. She is far too composed in this piece for a woman who just lost her husband in such a horrific manner! I believe her story. I think the drug cartels took the jet ski (they can use it in their business) and this is why no one can find it. Although, I don't think the Mexican side is truly looking for the body or the jet ski (very corrupt down there). Now for the footage on GM, I think the wife is on Xanax and she could still be in shock. Also, people react differently to death. I know I would shut down and probably not show a lot of emotion in front of people.

The link is on this thread or on the Today Show site. Check it out.

I think that her story is possible. There is not enough evidence to refute it.

Why do so many think it is not possible the "pirates" (or whatever you want to call them) took the jet ski AND her husbands body and disposed of it?

The fact that they cannot find the jet ski or her husband's body is evidence of nothing.

Does anyone have a link to the "eyewitness" video/story?

I can't find it.

I thought I read the witness wanted to remain anonymous? So I am not sure there is a video in regards to that?? They mention the witness account in the video from the Today Show, linked above in another post.

Just watched the interview. Wow. I really don't know what to think. I truly want to believe her but something just seems wrong. When Meredith asked her if she was invovled she seems upset but again, she doesn't seem to really mean her emotions.

Her story seems a little too convenient. I don't know. It doesn't make sense that they would've killed her husband and not her too. Also, why wouldn't they have taken them hostage?

I hope the truth comes out and she truly has nothing to do with this.

When this first came on GMA the other morning there was something to me that seemed 'off'. Can't put my finger on it but something didn't seem right about the whole thing.

I really, really hope the wife is telling the truth.

Does anyone else think the husband is still alive and both of them are pulling an insurance scam? Its fairly easy.

I saw a program where the sheriff stated that they had interviewed the witness, and he described the boat (as a white fishing type boat, I think) and verified her story.

I can't say one way or the other whether it's true or not. If I had any idea that the area even might not be safe, I know I wouldn't have been there.

In the interview I saw, I never heard her say whether he was dead or alive - just that she tried to get him on her jet ski and then got scared and left. I thought it was strange that didn't come up in the conversation. I can't imagine not saying that as part of the story. I don't think I could have forced myself to leave my husband if he were alive.

I have to say that her sister-in-law seemed much more genuinely upset than the wife did - noticeably so. Of course, I don't know how medicated the wife was.

If it is a scam, the man's family is not in on it. They were so upset during the interview yesterday they could barely speak or contain themselves.

Maybe the wife is on meds that are making her numb, or she is just dealing with it by shutting down and is on auto-pilot.

Time will tell. The authorities seem to be able to tell when someone is making up a story.

She didn't seem medicated to me.

Her eyes darted around oddly- something is "off" with her. I would tend to think insurance scam rather than she murdered her husband though- he's hiding somewhere and they'll meet up after she gets the money.

And apparently they will not let US law enforcement on their side to search either. That to me is suspicious. She was found by someone on the Texas side as she came ashore. They described her as in shock. I can understand some scepticism but I am not willing to make her a suspect at this time. When the Mexican government opens the entire Mexican side of the lake to US law enforcement and a complete search is done, maybe, but not now.

During yesterday's interview, she kept doing this weird thing with her lip...can't explain it, you'll have to look for the video (the interview she did on the Today show with the family). Something about that maneuver just looked FAKE to me.

Also, if they shot the guy and stole his jet ski, why not shoot her and take the other jet ski too? Why leave a witness??

Makes no sense.
