Pirates is open sort of....

So we were at the MK today and Pirates was open. We went over and asked if it were done being refurbished and the cast member said "no". They decided to open the ride back up for Spring Break only partly refurbed. I guess they replaced some wiring and all that kind of behind the scenes stuff. They are going to close it back down again next week for the major changes...like adding in the new characters and animatronics. The official grand re-opening will be in July.

So those of you there this weekend should get to ride it!

We rode it on Easter and didn't notice any visible difference. We both felt that the sounds were much clearer, however. Not sure if we imagined it.

I was there today also, rode it and noticed no difference so I too asked a cast member after riding it and they said the same thing as Lily said that they opened for the Spring Break crowds and will close in the upcoming week or so. I am glad because I was really wondering when I happen to be passing and saw it opened so soon. I will wait until July to see the done product.

This is good news! I had already accepted that I wouldn't be able to go on my favorite ride this time, but just maybe..

I will be right behind you in line Plan on hopping off the train, checking in and getting a ride on the Pirates. Other than that the day will be relaxing

It is scheduled to be open through April 30... They are re-closing it on May 1 for the continued rehab. It is ahead of original scheudle and is due to re-open fully refurbished on July 1.

As was mentioned the "ride" rehab was done in the first wave, flume work, boats, building updates, etc...the basic rehab work any attraction would endure. The second closure will bring in the new animatronics and show elements

Woohoo!! I do get to ride it then! This will be my first time to WDW, so I was pretty disappointed when I didn't think I'd be able to ride it. I don't care that the new elements won't be added. I think I'd rather ride it once before that is done anyway. Thanks for the info!
