I'm so excited about this! I live in NJ so this will be great! This is such a deal compared to DL prices for thier event...you get so much more here! pirate:

I live near boston, and was thinking about going to Disneyland for the event there. I've never been to Disneyland and fouth of July might not be a great first week.
I have the week of the 4th off, but I wasn't planning on going anywhere because deals are so hard to find that week.

This event seems great but I can't believe they don't give more details. It says the 6th and 7th is thay because the screening is after midnight, or is this a 2 day event?

They don't say where it is, but someone on "tell no tales" said that is was inside the world of Disney store, which would be cool.

I'm not sure what to do, staying in downtown Manhattan during July will be expencive but this might be a once in a lifetime event. I don't know much about the imagineer they are having, except they we wrote that awesome ride to movie haunted mansion book. If it was someone like X Atencio I wouldn't ask questions, I'd just book it.

Still I'm amazed they have an event and are already selling tickets for it, with such a non-descriptive decription. It doesn't say where it is, when it starts, if its a sitdown meal or snacks, and what the free stuff would be.

From the description it could be a $10 movie ticket, some cocktail weeners, a pin, mini poster and an book signing with Jason Surrell.

Or a sit down meal at New Yorks finest restauraunt, a presontaion by Jason Surrell with a chance for autographs later, Eveyone could end up with a small movie prop some with bigger ones, and personalized leather jackets from the movie, and a special red carpet movie premere is New York.

I'm sure it will be better then the former and not nearly as impressive as the latter, I like surprised but not when I'm looking at spended this kind of money. Not just the $120 event, but also the hotel and transportation.

Thank You,
Jay

The Update at the Disney Gallery Website clarifies the details a little bit as follows:
Event: Pirates in the Big Apple
Date: July 6 - 7, 2006
Location: World of Disney® Store, New York.

Pirates in the Big Apple
July 6, 2006
With a special viewing of
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Mans Chest
At midnight on July 7, 2006

This would indicate that the event will end after the movie screening. The starting time has yet to be announced. With the RSP for special merchandise one would expect that they would start allowing people to come in & pick up their merchandise during the day on July 6th. The food they served at the opening of the Gallery in the NYC WOD Store was served by roaming wait persons, appetizer style but very plentiful. I would expect they will do something similar. At one point Disney owned the entire Building but I don't know if that is still the case. It's possible they might use the area where they held the princess thing for the event if it still exists. They have also announced that Mark "Crash" McCreery, the creature designer for the movie, will be in attendance in addition to Jason Surrell. Jason also did a Pirates of the Caribbean Book similar to the Haunted Mansion one. He is very entertaining. Hopefully they will post a tentative intinerary and menu soon in addition to the promised additional merchandise. As for the gifts, there is no way of knowing what they will be without attending the event. We received an etched & dated Champagne Glass and a lovely Bronze & Crystal figurine from the Gallery Opening event as gifts.
