We are going to do this for the first time. It's gotten mixed reviews but the overall average is positive. I think it is all about expectations. Obviously the food in a banquet style format isn't going to be top-notch gourmet. Tickets aren't cheap but at least kids are free this month so we figured now is the time to check it out.

They want you to check-in 1.5 hrs in advance, 1 hour MINIMUM! Huh? And the one thing that did seem consistent in reviews was that the hor devours sucked during the pre-show portion.

What I'm wondering is how the time that you show up will effect where you are seated and your chances of being part of the show? Do people showing up, say 45 minutes in advance get screwed on seating and very little chance of being in the show?

We have a group of 6 adults and 2 children. We'll be at Knott's Berry Farm that day and want to stay at the park as long as possible and would hate to head to this dinner adventure at 3:30 to find the pre-show was a waste of time.

Get there at least an hour early. There is a pre-show that is fun to watch, you can get drinks and the appetizers are good!! We enjoyed them personally, we enjoyed them a lot. They had shrimp, veggies w/ranch, chips & dips, crackers and cheeses with salami and pepperonis. It was definitely good!!
The food was good too, not the best but really, you're there for the show more than the food. The show was fun, the food was good, and after we got to meet the Pirates, the Princess and the acrobat and jester, we took pictures and the girls got autographs too.

BTW, if you don't want to get there early when we went they offered priority seats for extra $$, that might be your best bet.

We'll definitely try for an hour early. What is interesting is priority seats are first three rows I think they said. But it seems to me, if they don't fill them, it's not like they are going to leave the front rows partially empty in that section so I would guess the late arrivals might get to sit in the priority section for no additional cost just to fill the rows up if they aren't filling up quickly.

Now if I could only get a hold of a cashier their as they determine where you will sit.

No, they do leave them empty. :) At least they did when we were there. :)

We'll considering this is not a busy time of year, and the economy, and the fact we are going to the 5 PM show (although on a Saturday) I would be surprised if a week from this Sat if it is a full house.

So how did you feel about the people sitting in the preferred rows? Was it like, look at those "VIP" goofballs that paid extra to sit all by themselves separated from the rest of the group wearing those stupid bandanas, or was it more like, gee I wish I was sitting in that section and had the bandana and beads like them.

I would also be interested...
Is it fun enough for 28 year olds to go if they don't have kids?

I think if you have a group of outgoing people who like to have fun, then it would be fun for 28 year olds. If you have a group that doesn't like to get involved, or that thinks that singing along is dumb, then you might not want to go.

I took my kids when they were 17 & 18, and my son was too "cool" and thought it was okay. My daughter & her boyfriend got into it, and really enjoyed it.

We sat in the preferred seating, and got more interaction. I thought it was worth it.
