Has anyone sent their kids on the Pirate's Cruise that originates at the GF?? I would like to know what ages would be appropriate and if it's worth it. Also, is the reservation process as crazy as Breakfast with Cindy??

My 5 year old went last year (feb) and had a great time! You didn't say the age of the child but as long as they are comfortable leaving you that would be ok. I don't know about ressies, call and ask.

My daughter went on the cruise 2 1/2 weeks ago and had a blast. She's 7 and seemed like one of the older ones, but says she wants to do it again next time. I think the ages are 3 - 9. I'm not sure about the ressies, but I think I called around the earliest mark (60, 90?? I'm not sure how many days out it was.) I don't think it's quite as crazy as Cindy's because you do have to give a credit card number.

My son went when he was 9 and LOVED it. I was a little nervous because he is ADHD and even w/ medicine can be quite a talker. Several people here on the DIS made me feel good about letting him go and told me to be sure to talk to them when I checked him in.

Anyway, when they got back, they said he was fine- asked lots of question, but good ones.

He wishes he could still go, but he is too old now.

You can make reservations 120 days out and you have to secure your ressie with a credit card. I believe you can cancel up to 24 hours before and not be charged. I also think it is only held once or twice a week. I know it is on Thursday. Look on the Dis Home Page for more information. My dd's are 4 and almost 7, we will be going in June.

I copied this info from the Dis info it is under Dining/Restaurants

This awesome adventure is being offered Mondays and Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to noon, and starting April 3/02, it will be offered on Wednesdays as well (available to book now). You can book this 120 days in advance by calling 407-WDW-DINE (407-939-3463) to do so. The cost is $22.95 per child, a credit card is required at the time of booking, and parents must sign a waver upon arrival. Cancellation policy is 24 hours in advance and there is a $15 "no show" charge per child.

They've added a third day as of this month, so now it's held on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. I have ressies for my 5 yr. old twins in May--I'm sure they are going to love it! It's not as hard to get as Cindy's PS, but they do go pretty fast, so call asap! I think the price was about $25.00 per child.

DS-6 and DD-9 loved it this past FEb. There were more older kids than younger on their cruise, just luck of the draw I guess. It turned out to be one of their favorite activites of the whole week. THe CMs on the cruise are wonderful. It is a unique experience!

Thanks for sharing everyone! I love to hear about everyone's experiences. I think this is going to be a "must do" for my DS(5) and DD(4) when we go in October!

I tried to get my grandson in last year and it was booked. So this year I called 120 days out and he is sceduled for June 24th. The price did go up, about $25 now. All it takes is for someone to book a birthday party on the tour and it filled up immediately. I believe they only take 20 kids?

My two children did this about a year and a half ago when my son was 7 and my daughter was 5. They loved it! They had such a good time. Just today I was doing some trip planning for our trip this June and they were both telling me that they would love to do it again. I called this morning and was able to get them a spot. They're really excited. My son will be 9 then and my daughter will be 7.

Do the children wear life jackets ? What's with the waiver ? Should I be concerned even though my gson does swim ?

Yes. All the children are required to wear the life vests during the Pirate Cruise.

I don't remember what the waiver said. Maybe someone else can remember.

I have photos in my on-line photo albums of the Pirates Cruise, the Wonderland Tea Party, and the Grand Adventures in Cooking Class. My daughter (and niece and nephew, too) has done all three of those activities many times, most recently in January. Just click on my link here -- Janet2k's On-Line Photo Albums -- and search for the appropriate albums.

n2mm - My DS who is 10 and my DD who will be 7 on June 22 - will be on the
Pirate Cruise on June 24th.

I know of another DS (not mine) who is 10, will be on the June 24th Pirate Cruise too.

Your post said your DGS will be on the Pirate Cruise on June 24th.
How old is your grandson ?

I hope there are sone girls on the Pirate Cruise of June 24th for my DD.

;)

We went when my dd was 9 and my ds was 7 - McKenzie was one of the older children but she enjoyed it too. The kids liked looking for "treasure" and the cm's were great with the kids even though they mentione a "mutiny" of sorts (of course disney style).

:D

Hi Pooh2001

What a small world. My grandson is 8 and this would be his first time doing this. Glad to hear that there will be more kids around his age. I thought maybe there would be all little ones. We're staying at Dixie Landing in June with him. We take him every year by ourselves. We are there June 21-30. We are hoping to do the Pin Event at the Contemporary also, since he's also a pin collector. His name is Jordan.

Janet2K Thanks for the photos. My kids will be doing some activities at the GF in July and these photos have made me stop second guessing that my kids were too big or that the activities may be too pricey. I'm sure DD7 and DS10 will have a great time on their adventures. I shouldn't be surprised, Disney always pays attention to those great little details!!!
