Hey all, we have a reservation 2/25 - 3/6. We've only ever stayed at ASMo which is where we were booked for this trip as well, but last night I got a wild hair and called to check availability at CBR (our first time here). We book using the military discount, so all they had available at CBR for our time frame and the discount is the Pirate Rooms. I went ahead and booked it (I do have a 4-year-old boy who will probably think these rooms are awesome) but I feel like I'm already having regrets on changing resorts..

I wanted to upgrade to CBR for the pool, and the fact that there's an actual door to the sink/vanity area, unlike ASMo with just the curtain, so when I'm getting ready in the morning I won't wake the others. But, now when looking again at the pirate rooms, I see it too has just a curtain and not a door and the walk to the main pool looks a loooong distance. When I looked up some reviews a lot of people mentioned the beds weren't comfortable, but I wonder what it's being compared to (we are fine with the mattresses in ASMo...are they about the same?)

So....I guess the point of this post is, has anybody stayed in one of these rooms and are they as bad as I've made it in my head? The price difference from ASMo to the Pirate rooms is close to $900 for us so I think I'm just feeling a little buyer's remorse. If they are really as bad as I'm thinking, has anybody had luck "downgrading" from the Pirates to a standard/preferred room once there??

If you're on a package or discount and that's what they have, I think you're stuck if you want to stay at CBR. One time I was able to "downgrade" when I was on a CM rate, BUT I'd originally booked a standard room and the room assigner decided to give me a pirate room - and it being marathon weekend, I did not want to have to deal with the bed after the races.

I've never found CBR to be THAT big. But then again I walk pretty much everywhere, so I'm not used to parking within a hundred yards or so of anywhere. I think I read somewhere that nothing is more than half a mile. They do have an internal shuttle as well if walking is that big of a chore for you.

Because you booked using a discount the odds are very slim that you'd be able to switch once there. If you could you'd most likely have to pay rack rate for the room.

Friends of ours love the Pirate Themed rooms and have said the beds are comfortable.

We stayed in July of 2014 with DS4 and DD6. They loved the rooms and had so much fun with the theme! The beds did not bother me at all. In these rooms there is just a curtain but I was always up before everyone else and it never bothered them.
There was some distance to the walk but it didn't bother us. It's scenic and I enjoyed it.
We have stayed at ASSp and ASMo before. The thing I liked better about CBR was the bus stops. Some people complain that the bus has a few stops throughout the resort before you get out on your way but we liked teh fact that the buss top was basically just outside our door. We didn't use the main pool as we were there in July and it was busy but we used the quiet pool in our village a lot which. I also liked have the washers and dryers so close to the room.
Our past visit in November we stayed at Pop due to additional family members going but we regretted not being back at CBR. We plan to return there our next trip.
