Pirate room for 1 night? Better to do a preferred CBR room instead?

We have a kiddo having a birthday celebration for one night and he wants to give a pirate room a try. I read some reviews that were less than favorable and pointed out that the pirate rooms are very far from the buses.

We are only there for one night and will be heading to HS for SWW the next day. I'm wondering if the pirate room will be fine for one night or if we should convince the kiddo to do a preferred room so we can get to HS by rope drop.

Thoughts?

I'm not certain Pirate rooms are available for just one night. This last weekend, I tried to reserve one for one night in January 2014 and was told that none were available. I don't see them all being booked eight months in advance. The only thing that made any sense to me is that Disney has a two night minimum.

I may be all wrong about this.

I'm pretty sure rooms can't be booked past Dec. 2013 yet, but I could be wrong about that.

It's definitely available for the one night we're looking for next week. I looked via regular Disney rates and through the Florida Resident discount page. So don't lose hope!

Our friends did the pirate room and the 2 adults could not walk upright for days - the beds were so uncomfortable :(

The pirate rooms aren't far from the buses, each village at CBR has a bus stop. They are a little bit of a walk from the main pool and food court.

Good to know!

Fortunately for us, Dh and I are not very bed sensitive, so I think we'll go ahead and take the pirate room.

Thanks!

We stayed in them last may and had no issues! The beds were comfortable for us, the decor was really neat. The fridge is hidden in a barrel, the dresser's are crates, the carpet is made to look like a wooden plank floor & the curtain separating the bathroom area has a pirate skull on it.
I would say its worth a try!!

Come on give the young Scallywag what he wants. Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!

:D

Can't wait for our stay here end of next month. I'm sure he'll love it.

We tried one for 1 night, for a little boys first trip. It wasn't bad... Each "village" has there own bus stop & pool. It's a large very spread out resort, you'll need to drive or take internal bus to get to food court or main pool, pirate rooms are in almost the last village but for one night to give the boy his request I'd say do it! Then move where you want to!

I've stayed in a pirate room for a few nights and we didn't have any issues with the beds being too uncomfortable. Because of the pirate ship design, they are somewhat small and the mattress is thinner than normal. That affects some guests a lot more than others. Now that we've "been there, done that" I probably wouldn't book the pirate room again, but we enjoyed our short stay there.

For a single night stay that will add some magic for the birthday boy, I'd go for it. The theming is really cute for a pirates fan and you aren't commiting to a long stay, so if you're not that impressed, you'll know to book a regular room next time.

OP here. Just booked it! Birthday boy will be thrilled. It's our first Disney trip of our extended stay in Florida, and I'm glad we'll be trying out a new resort.

Thanks for the input!
