Pirate & Princess Party

I just spoke to someone at Disney Special Events who said that the rumor of not getting in the park until 7pm is false, and that the ticket is good for a full eight hours in the park from 4pm-midnight. Also---ony three restaurants will be open: Tony's Town Square, Liberty Tree Tavern and CRT. I snatched up a table for 7 at Tony's, but now I'm worried we may waste time getting all the way back to the front of the park at 6:30pm? Anyone have any thoughts on this?? We are going on Valentine's Day---so a little Italian dinner might be perfect, even with three little ones!

I understand the idea of going out to dinner, especially on Valentines Day. However, you are paying to go to the party... I would grab a quick bite a counter service before 7 PM (continue to call back to get an earlier reservation). In order to get the most out of the time you have at the party. You likely won't make it to 12 with little ones (we never do). So take advantage of all the hours you can. 7 PM reservation seems like a waste to me.

I'm hoping they have the P&P party in Aug again this year; we will be there 2wks then. Does anyone know when they published the schedule last year? I'm hoping it is early enough to add a day if we need too.

FYI, we went to the 1/26 PPP and all they are giving out this year are beads and a few small "jewels". They don't pass out candy like the MNSSHP. Fireworks were good though and there was nary a soul there after 10pm. A bit eerie actually...

We went 1/29 and got in exactly at 4 PM. They gave out the bands, maps, and bags right there:cool1:

and we all agreed it was the best "special event' we did this trip. We also did the Grand Gatherings Magical Fireworks Cruise (very, very cool), CRT at brkfst for 11 before the park opened, golf, etc. There were 13 of us. The P&P party was just our family of five at the end of the trip and we loved it! The park was lite completely differently than regular evenings, the rides were walk-on and the kids loved following the treasure map. Our kids are 9, 9 & 8 and there were kids much, much younger there enjoying the party throughly. The dance parties seemed more for younger kids. We saw almost no meltdowns from even the tiniest of kids, so I'm guessing there were lots of little pirates and princesses napping during the day (which is what we did).

I would definitely recommend eating before you arrive (or at least before 7). Once the party started, we really got caught up in it and it was hard to pull ourselves away to eat, even though we were starving. With tickets you could get in at 4, and treasure was beads and jewels. Our kids actually had looked forward to at least a bit of candy.

As DVC members, we are always looking for ways to "change it up" and this was awesome.

My other huge recommendation for DVC members is to spend high point (Fri/Sat) nights at FW. Their cabins with kitchen and fridge are a perfect compliment to the dvc units. It was the best way to end our trip and use up leftover groceries (but that's a different thread...)!
