Pirate & Princess Party Experiences

We're a family with "older" disney fans (22, 20, 20, & 16 year old kids) they love MVMCP (free hot chocolate & cookies were a dream come true for the 20 year old boy)

We'll all be there in August - do you think this will appeal to them? I'v just started reading about this event this weekend.

Honestly, the Christmas party is my least favorite hard-ticket event (I like it, it's just not my fave)... so I'm pretty positive that your family would love Pirate and Princess. Guys LOVE the fireworks because during the "pirate" sequence, it looks like the castle is being bombed by pirates. Jack Sparrow is in the parade and he also does Meet & Greets. And there is free candy all over the park (not hot chocolate or cookies, but hey, close enough!)

Do the majority of kids wear costumes. We were thinking of going, then leaning more towards not, now maybe changing my mind again. I don't feel like lugging costumes in my luggage. Will my kids look out of place if they don't wear costumes? I guess I could get my DS pirate ears and a tiara for my DD (although she's more into pirates herself), but I don't feel like going crazy looking for costumes and it might be too hot to wear them.

Are any of the dates sold out yet? We will be there at the end of Aug./begining of Sept. and I have yet to order our tickets yet. I've actually kind of waited around on purpose to see if we really wanted to do this or not. We attended MNSSHP last Oct. and LOVED it and I wanted to see if this party would even come close to it. Sounds like everyone really did enjoy it and I need to get around to ordering our tickets. It will be me(27), DH
(27), Dsis (22), and DSIL (19).

I loved P&P. My GF and I were there... great opportunity to meet Cpt. Jack, and who doesn't love to dress up like a pirate? (So what if I'm 22.... ;))

Hi everyone! Sorry to hijack this thread but I have some P&P party questions for all of you experienced "partiers":

My boyfriend and I (both 26 yrs old) will be in Disney this August. I'm in the beginning stages of planning our trip and I noticed that the Pirate and Princess party is going on during the week that we'll be there (Aug 18-26).

This isn't our first trip to Disney, and we were just there this past December so we're not concerned with experiencing everything and packing in all the parks. However, in our days there, we'd like to spend at least one day at MK, AK, Epcot, Typhoon Lagoon, and we plan to go to Sea World and possibly Universal (okay so I guess it DOES sound like we're cramming everything in).

Anyhow, I notice that during our week MK is only open for PM EMH one day while we're there, and closes earlier on a few days, most likely due to the Pirates and Princess party. I looked on the Disney website and couldn't find a whole lot of information on what the party was about and if it was worth it for us to pay the extra $ to do. i

Is this mostly a kid-oriented party? Is it worth paying $30something extra dollars to go? How many extra hours do we get in the park to ourselves while regular "non-party" guests have to leave?

I appreciate any help you can give! Thank you!

Would you like to meet Cpt. Jack Sparrow? P&P is your chance. :) There are also other rare characters present. Would you enjoy dressing up as a pirate or princess? Costumes are welcome. :)

Do you consider Disney kid oriented? In some ways yes, some ways no. I find it very much at the same level as Disney in general. Some of the activities (pirate training, etc.) are kid-oriented, some are not.

I think it's about 4 hours, but I could be wrong. My gf and I (20 and 21 at the time, respectively) went to two of them in a week and loved both.

Thank you - we get there one day to late for the Mikeys Very Merry Christmas - looks like there will be many other things to do for the 4 days and then on to the cruise.

Disney never leaves you wanting for fun. I'd love to do one of the cruises... such a shame my bank says no ;)

just ordered my ppp tickets from very nice cm and she told me that aug 24 is not sold out yet....not even close. looking forward to light crowds and short lines.:cool1:

We have our tickets already for Aug 28th! kids are excited as my DDs are allowed to go as pirates (as I made them dress as princesses last MNSSHP) Love the POTC movies so hoping it will be cool. We have Chef Mickeys for Dinner prior so should be a fabulous evening:cool1:

Magicmouse2- my family and I are also going on the 28th, we are eating at CP. WE will be the family wearing black shirts with PIRATES written in yellow. My DH manages my DS's baseball team and their team name is the pirates so my DH thought we would wear the shirts for something different. Have fun, I know we cannot wait.

I'd love to meet Jack Sparrow! They have a meet and greet with him? And pictures? Sounds good to me!

I definitely don't think that Disney is only for little kids. We've been 3 times in the past 2 years and are both 26 yrs old, we love every minute of it!

I think it's about 4 hours, but I could be wrong. My gf and I (20 and 21 at the time, respectively) went to two of them in a week and loved both.

This is definitely something to consider! Are all of the rides open during this time? Or just the pirate/princess rides?

Also, are there any discounts on the P&P party?

Thanks again!

EmptyCinema- My bf and I will be at WDW Aug 27th-Sept 1 and attending the P&PP on Aug. 28th, I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it so much, because we're both 22 as well. Which rides are open and where are the best characters located?
