Pirate Night No More?

We were just talking about this tonight. My mom has a whole costume planned… carried over from our canceled cruise in 2020. She was shocked/sad to hear there might night be a big pirate night anymore. I told her that she should bring it and we will just have our own pirate night if we need to!! pirate:
That's exactly what our plan is! Wherever there is a void left by a 'party that is no more', we're just making our own! No SailAway party? No problem! We have the SailAway music that well play from our small bluetooth speakers while on deck with our cocktails. We're even learning the old CM choreography! Pirate night? No problem! Darbbed in our costumes we may have our own 'treasure hunt ' around the ship and raid each others cabins for chocolate coins, whoever gets the most coins wins bragging rights as the most badass pirate! It'll be loads of fun and easy peasy to fill in the empty spaces with our own 'frog DNA' so to speak. Let the pillaging begin!!

I LOVE all of this!! Life finds a way!!

Our Fantasy cruise the first week of January didn't have a pirate night or menu.
Wasn't that when the Fantasy was coping with a staff shortage due to Omicron? They might have suspended the Pirate stuff for that reason.

We were going to sail on the Dream in 2020 for our honeymoon and had pirate costumes.... then Covid hit and everything got cancelled. Now we are sailing in May and was hoping to wear the costumes but not sure now.

We were on a B2B on the Magic in January

13 Jan 4night - Had pirate night, with fireworks, not deck party but pirate menu, and the buckaneer takeover in the dining room. To be honest it was pretty weak on the show. Dining staff in Pirate garb, bandanas and so on

17 Jan 5 night Marvel day at sea cruise - Not sure on the dining room we did Palo that night, as pirate menu was not our favorite. But my son 12 did the main dining room on his own and said they did the show again, and serving staff dressed up but he doesn't think they got bandanas that night. No Fireworks but the Marvel Day show and Fireworks were much better than the pirate ones the week before anyways.

We did Star Wars Day at Sea in March of 2020 right before the pandemic and they fireworks both Star Wars show and Pirates Show, but that was before the covid.

The 5 nights with special itineraries are a weird vibe. We had a 5 night double dip Very Merrytime, and pirate night was the same night as the Christmas fireworks. So that was odd.

We noticed the 4 and 5 nights have a little different feel overall. We are more accustomed to the 7 night, 9 night Alaska cruises. We also did a 15 night East Bound Panama Canal. Really liked it but not for every cruise. The short cruises feel different. Even though we did the B2B 4night-5night combo for a total of 9 nights on the ship it still feels a little different. Maybe its the COVID rules but it just feels a little rushed. repeated menus in the dining rooms and so on. The longer cruises are more our speed I think.

We did have 3 Castaway days as our Marvel 5 night turned into a Double dip loosing key west. We got a Cabana on the last of the Castaway stops for our trip and it was beyond compare. That's the way to do it.

I don't THINK that is the reason. The Magic has Marvel Day at Sea and still had Pirate Night.
Foodwise, this is exactly the reason. 7-night cruise go through the standard menu rotation, covering 6 nights, leaving room for only one special menu, which in this case is SWDAS. On a 5-nighter, they'll do the 3 base menus, leaving room for 2 nights of special menus. Activity-wise, there were daytime pirate activities on the Fantasy, nightime activities in D-Lounge... but yes, nothing in the dining rooms or at night.

Given that they are doing the firework show 2x on the same night... there is just so much fireworks they can safely carry on board. So definitely, pre-covid, they would have ran two separate firework shows on different night... now they are running the same firework show 2x on the same night.

That could be some limits on fireworks capacity but not sure. I will say Marvel show was outstanding, fireworks and all. And they ran 2 shows that night one for early dining and the late show for us late diners.

I think the pirate fireworks the week before was really a 1/2 fireworks show based on what we remember. We were grateful to be there and it was one of our best cruise experiences doing the B2B with the second leg being concierge. But I think we really missed some of the old ways of doing things. The lack of passengers I would say right now is the very best time to cruise. Without a doubt the prices are lower, and the ships feel empty. Castaway felt empty.

I would say if you are on the fence do it. My son 12yrs didn't go to kids clubs so much but lived at Edge, no issues. From the looks of things the only lines were to see Loki and Thor. We heard there were lines for bingo but didn't see them and we don't anyone was turned away.

We are going on our first disney cruise out of Miami on February 14th. Five nights - nights marvel days at sea on the magic

How do I find out what time and day the fireworks will be (there are two days on the sign ups for marvel meet and greets)
How do I find out which day to put on my pirate costume (I am excited but the rest of the group is on the fence and if there is no one else dressed they might throw my over board lol)
We where suppose to have the later dining time because of the way I booked but we now have main dining (early). The family we are traveling with likes the earlier time because of their kids (ages 3, 5 and 7)
Does anyone know if this seating time allows us to see all the fireworks (both) and shows ???
I do not want to miss anything :-)

If you have one day at sea that day will be your Marvel Day. Our characters had meet and greets on the day at sea and the second CC day of our trip. All of the shows and info will be in your navigator once you log into the ship's wifi. You will be able to see all of the activities and menus available for each day--just go to the top (above the picture) and switch the day. Google the pirate dinner menu and look for those items on the menus that are posted--that will be your pirate day. You will be able to see each Marvel Heroes Unite show with fireworks with the early dinner seating--the shows are at 8:30 and 10:30.
