We will be on the 7 night Magic in May. We have late seating, 8:30. We would like to attend the Pirate party which starts at 9:45. How should we do that? Can we eat somewhere else? Would that be a good night to eat at Palos? Is there additional food at the Pirate Party?

The one cruise we were waitlisted for early we decided that if we had late we would just tell our servers when we intended to leave dinner for the party and probably would not order all the courses to allow room for a little sampling at the buffet after the party. I would plan to only spend an hour in the dining room that night. You will probably miss the pirate parade/limbo line but I would go to the deck party over staying for that.

On our first cruise our tablke was with a bunch od dissers and we were perfectly content to just go with the flow, but our servers were great and knew how to get us out without us even asking. We got a great spot on deck 10 saw everything and danced the night away.

On our second cruise kids were old enough and did not even eat with us that night or most other nights. WE ate slowly and just got there in time to see the special events i actually stood right in front of the line entrance for the food so that i could be the first in line since the first cruise we did not eat at the buffet, went through the line got my food and took it to our room.

Now this time around i think if we have the side of the ship where you can see the fireworks from we will go straight to our vernandah and watch from there.

The servers know you want to go to the pirate party and some of them will even need to be serving at the party. Show up at dinner on time and they will move things along quickly.

The worst part is that you won't be hungry for the pirate food!

So should we show up for dinner at 8:30 in our pirate outfits and then go over to the pirate party? What do they have at the pirate buffet?

Show up 5 minutes early for your assigned dinner time in your pirate outfits. The pirate night buffet is wonderful. They have pirate's gold (chocolate candy wrapped in gold foil), fruit crepes, all sorts of desserts, fruit, etc. They have some main dish items, but I've never eaten any of them as we've always had late dinner!

Ok, I have late seating. So is it feasible then to have dinner from 8:30 to 9:30, and if we head straight up to the party, will we get a good spot on deck 9 or will all the good spots be taken? I'm really looking forward to the party and we are dressing up in full costume so I want to be right in the action. For anyone who's done this, please let me know how it was showing up at 9:30 or if it is advisable to be up there earlier for a good place. Thanks!

You can do that, ask servers to go quick, and make a beeline for deck 9/10 at 9.30pm, the first sitting WDT 'show' will end about 9.25pm they will head up to deck 9 at that time.

FYI for anyone in a suite. Pirate Night is the perfect night to have the full pirate menu delivered to your suite, drinks and all. They will include the bandanas as well. With this option you may eat dinner at the time of your choice and find a good spot on deck for the party!

Here's a couple pics from our last Pirate night:

Not Dahuffy, but we were with them on the repo and we were in Parrot Cay for dinner on Pirate night. The pictures above were taken in the lounge on deck 3 where we all gathered to parade into the dining room together.

What side of the ship are the fireworks on?

awesome pictures. Only DD4 has a cool pirate costume. I have a hat. :confused3 Would love to have a full costume, but doubt I'll ever get one. LOL!

We have always had late dinner and we haven't missed the pirate bash.
We just skip dessert on that night.....:thumbsup2 Plenty of sweets at the party!

We have also always had late dinner and still caught the party. It really starts a little later than stated. The dancing and stuff starts around the scheudled time, but the "show" portion is a little later as are the fire works. Like one of the previous posters said, the dining room staffs know we all want to go to the party and many of them have to work it as well. DCL has this stuff pretty well timed out.

We've dressed in our piratey gear for dinner even had dessert then gone to the party. We didn't miss anything at all.

DH and I booked our Palo dinner for 9:00 the second night of our 3-night cruise. I just realized now that this is pirate night! And of course, now that we're 76 days out, there are no Palo seatings left. Any advice for us? Will we be able to see any of the party from Palo? Should we (could we?) try and rush through our meal to make it to the party?

I'm also concerned about our kids missing it. DD is 8 and would (in theory) be able to check herself out of the lab in order to catch the show, but DS is only 5 and would have to wait for us to sign him out and bring him up. In light of all this, do you think we should try and switch our Palo ressie once we're on board?

Did you book your Palo for late? I don't know how long it takes to eat there, but if you are at the pirate party by 10 you should be fine (so I hear). I personlly would skip Palo if it was cutting close on a 3 day cruise. But I have no desire to spend extra moeny to eat on the ship, so we won't ever be going. LOL!

LOL. We couldn't get Palo ressies the last time we cruised and felt like we'd missed out, but with it only being a 3-night cruise, I'm second-guessing our decision.

Our ressie is for 9:00. How promptly do you suppose we will be seated? Would it be worth trying to show up early in the hope of getting started earlier?

We had late dining our last cruise and still made it to the Pirate Party. With Late dining, the severs undestand. Our family left about 9:30 and made it up to the party and my parents got good seats off to the side.

...Palo for that night....I wouldn't recommend it. Unless you get in early enough in the evening.

They do set out food. So getting a light snack at one of the places on deck 9is also good. You can eat more when they set out the buffet.
