Pirate Make Over

Yeah, supposedly there was a CM working on the original ride before it opened. His name was George and a beam fell down on him, killing him instantly. Thus, if you yell his name 3 times something will happen. I've done it before, nothing happens. I doubt it is actually "haunted".

in dec my dad told me that if u like scream his name 3 times in the fire scene something will happen so like at the begining i asked the cm if something would happen he was like i have no idea what ur talking about and then when we were ready to go in the boat he came over and said "I wouldn't do it though" i was like ok but we did it anyway my mom could of swear she heard someone screaming with us or sumthin but yea its haunted by a worker who got killed during the building of it and the cms have to say goodnight and good morning to him i can't think of his name i think its George not sure though......

When did you go? That could have been me  Well me and my family (including my aunt and two cousins) went on it and we knew the story of George. Me and the younger cousin were going to do it, but then we chickened out. So the older cousin did it. And me and my other cousin were screaming because we got scared and stuff. And then I felt a hand on my shoulder.... but it was my mom telling me to shut up :lmao: When she did that I screamed even louder because I thought it was george! I am sucha superstitious scaredy cat! :lmao: :rotfl2:

Well haunted or not im just glad they reopened it for now since im leaving for Disney in two days i was bummed to find it may not be opened, IM HAPPY NOW THOUGH!!! its one of my favorites!

Hm, I've never heard the George story before...

It's peeving me off because I keep missing it by a few days! The last time we went, it was closed for the first day (one day earlier, one day earlier!) and now we're going to miss it by only fourteen days! :furious: Then we won't be back until October. It's one of my favorites, and I don't get to ride it.

I don't think they'll mess it up too badly; if they do, they'll have a LOT of angry Disney classics people to put up with. :rolleyes1

The renovation will make it better. I mean, the renovation of It's a Small World did wonders for it.

This is what it said on the DIS homepage.

ORLANDO (Orlando Sentinel) Pirates of the Caribbean, a mainstay ride at Magic Kingdom since 1973 and at Disneyland since 1967, will close for three to four months this spring so it can be updated.

Disney wants to add characters from the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, including Jack Sparrow, the Johnny Depp character, in time for the July 7 release of the sequel, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. Disney also plans to update some of the special effects.

The rides are closing and the changes are being made at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland.

The ride spawned the first movie, Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl in 2003. Now the movie, and its sequel are changing the ride, Disney officials said. In addition to Jack Sparrow, his nemesis Barbossa and the ghostly character Davey Jones from Dead Man's Chest will be worked into the ride.

"The creative legacy of Pirates of the Caribbean has come full circle with the attraction initially inspiring our highly successful film franchise and now the films inspiring exciting additions to the attraction itself," Dick Cook, chairman of The Walt Disney Studios, stated in a press release.

Walt Disney supervised creation of the ride at Disneyland and it premiered March 18, 1967. The ride was opened at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom Dec. 15, 1973. The ride features a slow boat ride through caverns populated by singing, brawling and menacing robotic pirates and other characters.
