I would like to hear how you felt about money spent on the dinner shows. 4 Kids, 11 - 14. Add Mom and Dad and we're talking big bucks. I don't mind the money, but I want to make sure it's well spent. The kids are very 'dramatic' and would really get involved in the whole immersion atmosphere.
I've never been to one and only know what the website says.
Thanks,

The shows are well done but the food is average to mediocre. Discounts are available, check the websites and places like ticketmania.

This past December we did the Medieval Times. Food was good enough, nothing spectacular but good enough. You got soup, garlic bread, half a roasted chicken, serving of ribs, half of a backed potato, and desert which was some apple tart thing along with all the beer and Pepsi you wanted. You don’t get any silverware but I was warned ahead of time and brought my own from home. The show was wonderful and very engaging! Even the quietest sections wore loudly rooting for their knights at the end of the night. My guys ages 11 and 13 love it so much that they want to go back in October instead of trying another dinner theater. With the discount coupon from the Entertainment book and upgrades for the four of us I think I paid $160 or somewhere around there, would I do it again? Probably but we are doing the Discovery Cove instead as our extra entertainment.

We've seen Dixie Stampede numerous times and Medieval Times once. The kids loved it - as did we. We, too, are debating the Pirate Dinner for our upcoming trip.

We are going to Medieval Times tonight..in January and February kids are free.. that makes it very affordable..$100 in total for all of us. Let you know what the kids 10 and 12 think..

I haven't seen Medieval Times free for kids anywhere. DO you need a coupon? from where? We'll be there in FEB.

Hi there was an ad in the Chicago papers for free in Jan and Feb.. it said to call 1-800 we-joust coupon code 0901

I just called and got res for Chicago one, not sure if Fl is included but it is worth a try..

Yes it is too bad that the coupon doesn't work there.. saves us BIG $$.. We went last night and had a great time.. the food is not wonderful.. DS#2 thought the chicken was greasy and wouldn't eat it.. we only got 1 rib each, not ribs..I got the veggie plate and that was great with much too much food.. it had carrots, rice, broccoli, cauliflower, and corn on the cob.. very high carbs.. but DS#1 ate the rice and carrots, DS#2 ate the corn on the cob...

the soup was good.. and the show was very fun...DS#2 thought it was "fake" because when the Knights are stabbed that there isn't any blood... it is a family show.... DS#1 loved every minute of it and really got into cheering for his Knight..

Well, I can't speak for kids , but my SO who is in his early 30's is greatly looking forward to rooting for a knight and wishing he was a pirate  ...

Seriously though, I'm doing both shows this time. I can't wait and I have heard nothing but good things about both shows from kids.

The only complaints I have heard were about the quality of the food, and I tend to take that with a grain of salt, since IMO, people who complain about food tend to be those who are into "fancy" dinners. I'm a burgers & fries gal myself and the food at dinner shows tends to suit me just fine.

Enjoy!

Thanks for all the insight. I'll definitely put it in the budget. My 11 & 12 yo won't touch meat, the 13 & 14 yo eat it sparingly so as long as the veggies were good, we'll be okay.

What's the best prices you've gotten and with which coupons?

Thanks

My 3yr old son, 2yr old neice and 13yr old sister all LOVED Medievil Times as did hubby and I!!!

The first time we went was for my birthday this past June. We had been in Georgia and Tennessee for 2 weeks and on our way home to S. Florida...so dh surprised me and stopped in Orlando and took 13yr old sis, 2yr old son, infant son and I there. We paid full price not knowing that there were discounts out there. But it was worth every cent!! I thought the food was great (I'm a big meat eater) and we were served more than enough food because they kept plopping food down on the 2yr old and baby's plates too! LoL.

I paid $29 for myself the last time we went at one of those discount ticket booths. (This one was along the Turnpike, heading north from South Florida...Yeehaw Junction)

Both of my kids were still free at this time. My twin sister also paid the same for herself and her daughter who was with us was 2 as well so she was free.

Once again, we LOVED it!! I am doing Atkins, so I really enjoyed the fact that I could eat all of the ribs and chicken, plus once again they kept plopping food on the babies plates so yummmm!! My niece was picked by our color knight as his "Lady" and she got to pull a special silk kerchief thing off his sword.

My son is 3yrs old and STILL talks about the Knights & Horse Show!!

We will probably be doing it again really soon!

I enjoyed the show but I am one of the posters who warn people about the food. Their description of the "banquet" GREATLY overrates what you get. The "prime rib" I was served (may have been a bad night) wasn't edible. A number of people were leaving most of the beef. The waiter had no trouble taking it back and getting me a large order of chicken fingers and it was fine.
The night I was there the food wasn't even as good as Sizzler or Ponderosa.

I have a vague recollection of hearing there are children's meals at the Pirate Dinner Adventure. Does anyone know for sure? And, how do you get that for your child instead of the regular meal? Right now their website says the regular meal is

Treasure’s Chicken
Tender portions of roasted chicken carefully marinated in a savory lemon-pepper sauce. A genuine treasure.

Buccaneer Beef
Swashbuckling cuts of tender beef cooked to perfection by our award-winning chefs to satisfy the meanest pirate on the high seas.

Thanks!
