With Halloween just around the corner Walmart has some very nice little pirate sets with a hat, patch, earing and hook for the hand I think I paid $3.99 for each of the sets. I got them for my DS 9 and 11 but the hat is big enough to fit an adult. They put them on the other night and we watched Pirates of the Carribean. They should be easy to pack. Just some info for anyone interested.pirate: The hat looks just like this little guy's

Thanks for the heads up! Still don't know if we are going with the tropi clothes or the pirate affair!

I have never heard of the need for pirate gear

Is this something I should know about?

Please help me because we sail in a week!

Apparently on the 7 night cruise they have replaced the Mexican themed night with a pirate themed night. Have Fun!!pirate:

The Magic and Wonder have replaced Mexicali and Troplicali-fragel you know what I'm trying to type... for a Pirate's Themed event...Much Fun, ye' Land Lubberspirate:
Wal-Mart also has plastic skull mugs (think taven beer mugs) very cool.

Pootsie, we are on the same cruise. You should check out the cruise meet thread for 10/9. Try this :http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=455395 There are alot on nice people going on this cruise. They are having a dis meet the day we embark at 4:00 deck 10, starboard- above the goofy pool. See you there!:wave2:

Thanks for the heads up. Sounds like we need to go shopping!

Do a lot of people dress up "theme" for those nights? Sounds like it would make a great picture/page for my scrapbook. Shhhhh! don't tell my dh that he'll be wearing pirate gear, LOL!

is DCL allowing people to bring plastic swords? with all the terror stuff going on i was just wondering. i figure that some people out there want to know this also so i asked for them. thanks

Just went to Walmart to get the pirate stuff and they didn't have it. :(

Found a pirate captain type hat at the 99¢ Store - nothing fancy, but will be easy to travel with (stores flat). Pirate bandanas will be easy to make: head to the fabric store and make them out of a large triangle of cloth. Was looking for a Disney print fabric, but didn't find any. Found an eye patch & earring combo at the Halloween store (probably could find it at Party City) for $ 2.95.

Now all we need are red and white striped tops. If anyone sees something like that (cheap), LMK.

I think we are going w/out the swords. Don't want any problems at the airport.

Hmmmm, I wonder if I can get dh to dress up ala Pirates of the Carribean....(gotta love Johnny Depp)

Hey Jeanne,

I've heard that the servers hand out red bandanas to everyone at dinner.

We were just on the 9/27 cruise and the staff gave out pirate printed bandanas. The menus were also printed like a map and you got to keep them. The photographers were out in the dining room all night, great photo ops. Imo, the best dinner night.

You just need a tunic style shirt. A quick way to make one, take a one size larger than you wear button down shirt and sew it together. Wa-la...pirate shirt.

most cruisers did not dress, but our waitstaff did tie bandannas on everyone at their tables. we did dress, kids will use the costumes for halloween, i didn't do the full costumejust accessories. we did take plastic swords and daggers, just place them in checked baggage. i even took the plastic musket pistol, but firing mechanism was broke in transport to ship. we had a great time and tokk some great pix with characters, if you are on the cusp, do it go out to party city, or wal mart and get that pirate gear. it's a lot of fun, and the staff loves to see it.
